Moon in a Night Chart

In this video I answer a question from Instagram about the Moon in a night chart. This relates to a Hellenistic concept called Sect. The quality of energy is contrasted between the daytime planets and the nighttime planets.
I cover the benefic and malefic planets and their qualities associated with the day and night sects. Find the explanation for why the Moon is as important in a night chart as the Sun is in a day chart.

I was born on a new moon in Libra. With Libra Sun, moon, Pluto and Saturn together in the 5th house. & mercury, Mars and Venus in Virgo. Night chart. Inner struggle has been intense my whole life.

I was also born on a Libra New Moon. I have the same stellium plus Jupiter! Mine are all in the 7th House and Moon sits on my descendent. People pleasing is a huge problem!

Thank you for this insight Kelly 🙏 I have a night chart (and I definitely feel connected to my Moon sign) but the Sun is my chart ruler (in the 6th house, I have a stellium there). In this case, would a greater emphasis still be placed on the Moon, or would the Sun also play quite a significant role?

Great question! In this case both the sun and moon are important, for different reasons. The sun because it rules the ascendant and thus is you and guides the chart/life. The moon as its the sect light and has influence as the light of your chart.

I always listen to my rising sign forecasts but I wonder if I should be following my moon sign forecasts too. Any thoughts on that?

I'd stick with following for your ascendant or rising sign as that's the most important sign for horoscope material.

I have a night chart. My Libra Moon (same degree as my descendent) is part of my Libra 7th house whole sign stellium which consists of Sun, Saturn, Jupiter, Moon and Pluto. So not sure how the Moon is affected by that? I also have Mars in Leo square Venus in Scorpio! Mars is also my chart ruler. I have a lot of Libra and Scorpio (Mercury, Venus, Uranus) energy which is ironic considering Mars and Venus play a big part in my chart.

What if you are born in transitional times? Evening or morning? Are these still daytime? I was born 7:30 pm British Summer Time.

If the sun is below the ascendent/descendent axis, then it’s a night chart.
