@@BRAVENEWORDERFILMS Good for you! I'm confused by your comment though because discipline means restricting by definition. @BRAVENEWORDERFILMS6 жыл бұрын
@@valeriavagapova No. Discipline in regards to food, means knowing what is harmful and removing harmful choices from your life. Soon it becomes second nature. Your body will crave what is nutritionally optimal and soon automatically reject the deficient. But if you follow a simple and logical diet, that has somehow led humanity to this point, one based on animal fats, protein and healthy carbs, the work is already done for you... Cheers and hope that helps👍

@@BRAVENEWORDERFILMS "removing harmful choices from your life" - so, restricting. You don't just magically stop craving something just because you know it's harmful for you. Developing a habit with discipline helps for sure, but most people still keep craving french fries once if a while even if they have the healthiest diet ever. That's just evolution - we crave calorie-dense foods because we have evolved in the times where food sources were scarce.
@BRAVENEWORDERFILMS6 жыл бұрын
@@valeriavagapova nah, that's bs. You're artificially influenced by GIANT Food conglomerates that have influenced multiple Generations. And why are you making so many excuses for a little bit of discipline? It has to happen. Before you were able to walk, you had to crawl. Soon it became automatic. The concept can be applied towards food. In reality, if you're hungry and food is scarce, you hunt animals and eat. Simple. Takes way too much time and effort to prepare edible plants when a simple snare, or Dead Fall Rock trap, can catch you a life sustaining mouse. A simple spear, can catch a fish, a frog, etc... Did you read the story about the guy who was adrift at sea for 16 months? He survived by catching slow-moving Turtles and drinking their blood and sometimes catching fish. Rainwater was scarce. But he lived. This method is actually recommended by survival experts. You're not going to find "fresh" GMO veggies and fruits in a survival situation, nor toxic, highly processed impossible burgers... Again, a simple diet based on indigenous cultures or your regional, customary cuisine, will usually promote the healthiest way of life. Cheers✌

Most 'normal' people think a few pieces of fruit and a bit of broccoli makes them super healthy 😂 In general, I think all people should be encouraged to track their food and watch their calories more closely (both to make sure they're eating enough and that they're not overdoing the cakes!!) The inability to understand what a portion size is. Overall we are in trouble as humans.
@Ratatosk806 жыл бұрын
No, with a good way of eating you don't have to track food and watch calories. A healthy diet is not a struggle and this beast of required knowledge. I eat an omnivore diet with a focus on fish, hunted game( I fish and hunt moose myself), lamb, beef, horse, organ meats and "tail to head parts" such as bone broth, marrow etc. I never track calories, I don't eat sugar/processed food/flour and keep fruit low. I eat until I feel satiated as much as I want. Eating wide array of animal products( so not just muscle meat) without added sugar/processed food, flour and low fruit it's virtually impossible to get fat. Reason being your taste palette changes, your craving for sugar goes down to zero pretty much. It's shocking at first. The food you do eat is so satiating that you will get very content and only crave that kind of food. It's also very nutrient dense, you don't have to plan out everything. You will get everything your body needs. Long post I know but since I started with this way of eating I have never been so fit in my life. Seen fantastic gains in rowing and lifting which I do. And contentment it amazing. Zero cravings. 40 years old almost and look like a V in shape, ripped. It's sad to me to see people struggle so much when it's so easy to be healthy as hell. A good omnivore diet is not a struggle to keep, it keeps itself because of like I said a change in your taste palette and the nutrient density in your food which gives satiation.

@@veneerfacade1624 That's completely untrue. Cravings don't come only from lacking a nutrient. You can get cravings because the bacteria in your digestive system eats something specific. For example it can make you crave sugar, but if you stop eating added sugar for a while those cravings will go away or at least decrease because that bacteria population declined in favour of another bacteria that eats the healthy things you've been eating. Also, some foods simply make us feel good, especially carbs, because many years ago you had to eat as many high energy things as you could to get you though hard times. It IS an ethical position to care about the welfare of animals while also eating animal products. I know it seems a contradiction to you because it is your belief that eating any animal product regardless of the process is a negative moral action. You say, on one hand, in previous statements, that any action towards the better treatment of animals or that less consumption of meat and animal products, in any way, is a step in the right direction then you immediately take that back. Your stance of veganism is one based on a belief. That means it's subjective. But people can have other beliefs centered around the welfare of animals and people, the responsible care of the environment, sustainable development and historical farming practices. You're free to belittle them as insufficient moral action according to your own personal beliefs but don't contradict yourself by saying different things. It is a common saying in the vegan community that anyone who experiences bad health on a vegan diet had to be doing it wrong. I heard it when my husband and I started to include certain animal products back into our diet after being vegan. We are now whole foods plant-based, primarily. Yet we do eat eggs, fish, cheese and on occasion, pasture finished meats. We did so for our well being and upon our doctors advice. Particularly, in my husband's case. I don't want to get into all the details because people inevitably want to point out (without any kind of medical degree or information) about why his health suffered after a well researched vegan diet. It sometimes is unsuccessful. Vegans have to admit this. Relying on their own anecdotal evidence is not argument enough. I agree with you that many companies have joined the organic/pasture raised bandwagon and that these terms are thrown about, haphazardly. Yet, I have absolutely met farmers and ranchers who take pride and tremendous care in their products. They do treat their animals as best they can and to demean anyone as being neglectful or harming animals simply because you can't watch them 24 hours a day is very ignorant thing to say. That's like saying because you bought some peppers at the market and since you couldn't watch 24 hours to see how they treated their migrant workers then it would be unethical to eat them. We all do the best we can and we do have to place trust in somethings. And people can care about animals and eat an omnivore diet. Just look at native Americans and indigenous cultures who treated their food sources with great respect and sacredness. That recognizing your place in the chain of life and death and in the world can also be an ethical and moral position. I know that this is difficult for vegans because they feel very strongly about the rights of animals. I understand as many of these reasons were why we went vegan. We found balance in these beliefs and nuances and are still activists to create positive changes.

I dunno. I always think about what most people feed their kids on a day to day basis, and it's pretty obvious to me that if vegan parents need nutrition counseling, then EVERY parent needs nutrition counseling. But, honestly, I feel like vegan parents are doing at least a moderately better job at providing a balanced, nutrient-dense diet for their kids than most people. I know my husband and I feed our kids about a bajillion times better than our parents fed us, and nobody was going after them because we were just eating "what everyone else ate" (like, it's not unheard of for kids from our generation to have a day's menu of fruit loops, bologna sandwiches, and meatloaf). Sure, there are exceptions (vegan parents who assume that low fat being healthful for adults is also healthful for kids without doing more research about child brain development, eek), but on the whole, most vegan parents I know are light years better at feeding their kids healthfully than SAD parents. Just saying.

I would hate for anyone to be discouraged to go vegan if they have kids because of the things she says here (and in a bajillion other videos where she talks about how difficult it is to get all the nutrients you need from a vegan diet unless it's well-planned). A friend of mine has 4 kids and recently has attempted to go vegan and take her family a little more plant-based, but she still prepares them fish sticks or dino chicken nuggets while she eats other vegan meals, both because they've become accustomed to eating junk and also because, I think, she's scared they won't get enough protein. :(

I know that you want to open and understanding to those who eat meat but oh my goodness I have never felt like veganism is more expensive. My partner and I spend £140 a month on food. Most of the people who complain about the cost of vegan food are eating out and buying takeaways and alcohol and ready meals... I really don't think we should let people have that excuse anymore!! Yes there are expensive vegan products (mostly organic and gluten free stuff!! Or 'luxury' brands) but there are expensive non-vegan products too. It's as expensive as you make it. We eat loads of beans and rice, but we also have tofu and mock meats and vegan cheese all of the damn time. I don't know any meat eater who spends less on food than we do.

You can't really compare your home prepared food to other people's convenience food. That's not a like for like comparison. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to spent time on their food. Anyone who has no food intolerances, isn't impaired by illness and disability, has access to a proper kitchen, access to a variety of ingredients and has enough time to plan and cook meals can spend £140 a month on food. I mean, if you have Celiac's you're going to need the expensive gluten free stuff, aren't you? If you need preprepared or convenience food your monthly spend could go through the roof as a vegan.

I put protein powder in everything and drank whipping cream smoothies just to get down 900 calories a day. I carried a little container of salt and sugar to stave off fainting spells. It got better after surgery. I can eat normal meals again, but the volume is still pretty limited compared to what most people eat. @voluntaryismistheanswer6 жыл бұрын
You're confused and trying to bring logic and ethos to malnourished and mentally ill members of an infertility cult.
@laurencampbell33206 жыл бұрын
The main concern is how the hens are sourced. Of course you won't keep roosters because they don't lay eggs, but then the fact is that even with small family farms the males are culled. Wherever you get your hens from, they likely cull their roosters. Once you have the hens, and the eggs remain unfertilized and you just eat the eggs, it's not the end of the world. Many vegans don't have a huge issue with this specifically, the main problem is that very few people actually raise their own free-range hens and instead just use this exceedingly rare hypothetical as a way to disprove veganism.

It isn't in the budget right now to farm but if you are going to eat meat I think more people should visit the farms they are getting their animal products from, see how the animals are treated, watch them be killed just once to see how they die (quick and painless is the goal) and see what "organic" actually means to that farmer (guidelines are not actually that strict)

In our culture we believe it gives the body "warmth,' and "lubrication for joints," apart from helping maintaining good gut health and if combined with yoga can help one loose unwanted weight. Don't ask me the science behind it 'cos I don't know if any of it holds true but it's just what we hear from our elders. LOVE your videos and the research you substantiate every argument with.

I don't think you get it, I had a perfectly balanced vegan diet for 14 years, perfect everyday hitting every target in chronometer at 100% or more, PERFECT DIET. And I still had issues absorbing vegetable protein, specifically tryptophan, I went to 10 doctors did many tests and GUESS WHAT, I couldn't sleep well and I didn't feel well, something was off, I didn't listen to my body I did tons of vegetable protein I tried everything to remain vegan, and it was very simple. One slice of Turkey and I was sleeping like a baby, every body is different and what might work for you might not work for me. Trying hard to remain vegan and to stay in the "perfect diet" was killing me and I was just pretending to be fine, pretending to know better, one day you get tired of all the bullshit and you realize maybe this Vegan stuff is not for everyone. It clearly wasn't for me, and okay the animals and all that, but honestly between the life of the animals and my life I will choose me 100%. I am now an EX-VEGAN, BEST DECISION I EVER MADE IN MY LIFE... VEGANISM IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY...

@@LeeSeanSullivan That was funny hahahaha but seriously I no longer buy the vegan crap. My family we all have good genes and live long healthy lives eating meat. I knew my greatgrandfather you can have excellent health and eat meat... Vegans exaggerate a lot of stuff... I no longer buy it and I am not dumb I went to college and have a master's degree. I understand research and meta analysis... But I also have eyes and senses. Look around healthy beautiful people doing great... less than 5% of the world is vegan... the other 95% is doing amazing... look at japanese people and other civilizations great lives... no need for veganism...

@Vegan4life Well let me tell you there are, there are tests to test your entire aminoacid profile and check for defficiencies and malabsorption. It is done to check for neurological issues. As I said I had a hard time sleeping and for some reason I always felt hungry as If I needed something. Even if I ate lots of vegan protein and high calories... I thought I was losing my mind. But that was the test that made me realize that it is easier for my body to absorb animal protein. Everyone's biochemistry is different, some people's evolution makes it easier to digest dairy products and they can eat cheese everyday with no issues... and Everyone in my family loves meat, I loved meat and I love it now. I tried the vegan diet to be healthier and help the planet. But I was already healthy, and this is something that I personally can't do. The vegan diet aged me a little, the second I ate meat I looked 5 years younger my collagen lvls were off.... Is just harder for me to absorb vegetable protein. However I am fine now, I sleep like a baby and I understand this is not for everyone. This is not the solution. As an industrial engineer I think the meat industry is inhumane, is not perfect but maybe we can try to improve it. This is my experience and everytime I hear Swayze criticizing someone's experience like she knows all the data I find it offensive. But also get vegans and I like her smart approach.

I have been feeling kind of "off" lately, I bought some proper omega 3 (EPA DHA) from algae (no heavy metals) and honestly it has made me a million times better. Yes it is not that cheap £13.99 (I had a voucher) and this lasts a month, if you're serious about staying vegan I would recommend this, if you can afford it of course! Though it's probably cheaper than buying organic/free range/humane animal products. I do think this deficiency in EPA &DHA is what causes vegans so many issues. I'm not hating on anyone as I completely empathise with these people but if you're vegan for the ethics this is definitely something to look into. If this doesn't help maybe look into adding some bivalves into your diet before going straight to the meat industry. (:

@@KattyTheLover I felt very fatigued, headaches, and having low moods I'd say it was more mental/emotional symptoms rather than physical ones. Honestly if you can afford it I'd say go for it! It's really the only vegan omega 3 that doesn't need to convert in ypur body. The one I got is from a brand called together health, you should be able to find it on amazon if you're in the UK. Hope you feel better soon anyway (:

If you're in the Northern hemisphere you also might want to look into a Vitamin D supplement. And if you have the money/insurance to cover it get some blood work done just to make sure.

See you are a reasonable person. The first minute and a bit of your video is great. Instead of bashing people for changing their lifestyle (as many do and also get nasty doing it) you do recognise that it is not for everyone and even if a person eats less meat it will still make a difference. Well done! This is the way it should be done and I am going to subscribe to your channel because of this!

I have a question, what do you think about eating eggs from your own backyard chickens?? I am thinking about getting a few rescue chickens for my new home, that has a big yard. I want to do this for rescue purposes, education and company (my kid just adores every type of animal there is) And I was wondering on the stance of this type of eggs. I know that they might not be the healthiest, but I don´t plan on eating them for health reasons, I just think I could enjoy eggs if obtained this way. I don´t think tequila is the healthiest either and I do enjoy me some margaritas jajaja Thank you!!!!!

I'm tired of all you Vegan KZbinrs that act like it's vegan or nothing. You saying that it's pointless to buy pastured animals is really irresponsible. It's not pointless, you're cherry picking studies. There are studies that grazing animals benefit the environment in numerous ways. And the truth is a grass fed pasture raised steak from a local farm is good for the environment and and the majority of produce in the grocery store isn't, if it came from miles away and harmful pestisides were used. Even organic uses pestisides. So vegan alone won't save the planet. And you probably just gave some meat eaters an excuse to buy cheaper factory farmed meat instead. Bad for the planet! There's also studies coming out that high quality pasture raised animal products are healthy for you. Think about how heart disease was rare before modern agriculture and factory farmed meat. If you really cared about the planet you would know not everyone is going to give up meat and you could be urging them to make better choices. Buy local pastured raised animal products and local pestisides free produce. And reduce the use of plastic that kills animals in the ocean. And plastic use is predicted to double in the next 10 years

A couple of years ago your videos rubbed me the wrong way. Now I feel like you're one of the few folks speaking sense on KZbin these days in the vegan community. I really appreciate you addressing this video because it really bothered me the way they portrayed their issues and these were my collective thoughts also. I just gave birth myself as a vegan and felt very energetic, well nourished and balanced. I didn't at all understand her saying, "My baby took all my protein from me." Uhm, what? Just eat more protein. This can easily be plants.
