I have watched her say all of these things in her videos. But I had to unfollow her content because she constantly gives her audience lies and dangerous false information about health. A friend of mine formed a friendship with Freelee and was following her diet back before she added cooked food. Her periods became out of control and she was pouring blood every month, couldn’t leave the house because she would bleed through pads and clothing so much so she would have to stay home and sit on bathroom towels to soak up leakage. Sorry for the tmi. Freelee just kept telling her it was a good thing that it was her body releasing toxins. This went on for months and months. Ultimately friend made some dietary changes because she was so ill and anemic. Freelee was giving terrible and likely dangerous advice.

@HI HEY HELLO not many people know this but a very important factor in humans becoming humans (developing our brains to the complex stage of today) was cooking their food. Fully raw is unnatural for us, ofc some fruit and veggies are more nutritious when served raw but our metabolism requires cooked food and the release of complex carbohydrates that comes from exposing the food to a heat source. Not a chemist so i might fk up some english terms but that’s the jist of it: we are omnivores and can’t digest or process some foods that aren’t cooked. I actually saw Freelee once, here in Los Angeles, at VegFest. It was several years ago. I've never really watched her channel much, but I knew who she was, and she was a BIG DEAL speaker at the event. I was kind of amazed as I watched her arrive. She was with Durianrider (sp?) at the time, and they were walking across the park (VegFest is typically held at a large park in Van Nuys) and watching the gaggle of *dozens* of people, mostly very young women, follow her as she arrived was truly fascinating. She finally stopped under a tree, I guess for a meet & greet and photo ops, and I stood back to observe. She seemed genuinely gentle and caring, very warm and friendly to her *insanely adoring* fans. The boyfriend seemed surly and intense. I don't think she had any kind of entourage, I think it was literally just her and her boyfriend, but even just 6 or so years ago (when this happened) VegFest and even veganism still wasn't as organized as it is now. But as far as not being the same on camera as in person, watching her was interesting, I didn't feel the need to meet her, but observing her definitely stuck with me. She was of course quite small, delicate features, big eyes, and the body language between her and her boyfriend was a little uncomfortable to watch. But she hugged many fans, and seemed genuinely sweet and caring toward them. I'm not particularly a fan, but remembering this day has kept me from being a hater.

Just a though...why wouldn’t she be ‘sweet’ to her fans? Her online income relies on these people continuing to support her. Her KZbin channel was going off and her income was rising, the rewards she was getting were many. Many others in the past have had awful experiences with her, including the girls who gained tonnes of weight on her diet advice. When they asked her why (this is before she came up with the ‘metabolic damage’ excuse) she told them it was their fault and blocked them! Not sweet, not caring. Perhaps if she was observed in a less favourable circumstance with people questioning her about her awful online persona, she may not appear so ‘sweet’.

If something doesn’t ‘look good’ the they will try to refrain from those behaviours, especially in public when it may expose the parts of themselves they don’t wish to expose. We have all met some ‘terribly nice’ people, only to learn that it’s all a bit of a show, and are exploitative in either their personal relationships or professional ones. They just aren’t as easy to spot right away. When fans or adulation are involved, then these people are supplying fuel for her ‘false self’. She will be whatever she needs to be to keep that. I think Leanne has some empathic traits so may be a mid range type of narcissist. Some narcissistic types feel more emboldened behind closed doors or by creating a persona online. I don’t think Leanne would feel so emboldened in person to say half the things she says online. She isn’t that brave.

Yep ironically red meat can be eaten undercooked (usually medium and above is considered safe) but most raw or undercooked veggies can be deemed dangerous things like kale or cabbage can't be digested as well unless cooked.

Winston, I feel so sad that you went through that. Early in my vegan journey I used to feel bad that I could not afford to be a raw food, organic health food only vegan, and I was full grown adult. I’m now so glad I could not afford to be one of those supposed “real” vegans. Anytime I see new vegans and especially young vegans looking for advice I get so worried, because as much as I’m shouting “please read a book from a dietician” I know there’s still a bunch of other saying follow the medical medium, go raw, do a cleanse, detox, restrictive unbalanced, low protein, pseudoscience orthorexic diets, etc, etc. I’m glad when see others give realistic and balanced advice, I think this is what I appreciate about this channel.

I love how you can watch Freelee's video and maturely react to it and respond to it in a more appropriate and reasonable way. Freelee's first reaction is calling what you say trashing. I mean is that not a reflection of herself? That says enough about her lack of being able to take feedback. You give a really great example on how to approach veganism on a more respectful and reasonable level. I totally resonate with this. Respect to you for calling people out on their mistakes in a constructive and positive way :) On another note I even stopped calling myself vegan recently now after 5 years because of allot of unnecessary drama in the community, there is constantly somebody criticising who is or isnt 'really' vegan or vegan enough. Now I call myself 100% plantbased. I really cant stand being associated with a community that has people with an unhealthy habit of shitting on anything or anyone that cant live up to 'personal opinions' of their perfect vegan standards when there are those of us vegans that are living our life pouring our hearts into this cruelty free lifestyle in the most sensible way we can. But it still not being enough. The toxicity in the vegan community is a very real problem in my opinion.

Regarding what she said about partner, this is one of Freelee’s new things she keeps pushing. That needing high protein is a myth and that vegan youtubers are only ‘obsessed’ with protein because their male partners (due to the health and fitness industry) are influencing them due to wanting to be more muscular / built. She insists that fruit provide all the protein that we need and because human breast milk has the least amount of protein it is proof that we do not need the RDA of protein (which she also says is inflated for marketing thanks to the fitness industry). When I ate similar to Freelee (I never did fully raw, but I ate very similar to what she promotes and the amount she promotes) ALL I cared about, and thought about from sunrise to sunset was FOOD, and calories. Tweaking this, tracking that... and everything else was put aside. Not a great way to live in my opinion. Funny how it was also easier to follow her way of eating when I was unemployed for a few months, but the second I got a job again it suddenly became TEN times harder. So goes to show what a privilege it is for Freelee to be able to live the way she does; not everyone can, nor should. Also I have a 7 month old who wakes up a lot through the night so don't you tell me not to have coffee :D

I feel like when I did raw till 4 / high carb low fat / mostly raw, a HUGE part of my brain power went to, tweeking what I ate to feel better, making sure to eat enough calories (which took lots of eating), buying and prepping food, making sure I was food combining properly for “Optimal digestion”, making sure I was working out constantly and sleeping a TON! All that hard work and I actually felt 100% with a regular vegan diet that is way cheaper and easier! I could never devote so much time with a child lmao 😂 Freelee doesn’t get that normal people have lives outside of the food they eat.

BUT I have to say that Freelee is absolutely the reason I went vegan and was able to stick with it. Her message and approach is sometimes harsh and extreme but she’s passionate and above all cares about the welfare of animals first and foremost. She’s inspiring. I have 2 of her books and make recipes from them all the time as well as my own cooked meals and vegan junk if I want! I think we can all agree that clearly something is not right in Freelee's thought process and yeah maybe it comes from something we don't know about. She's not wrong about the make up however and to some extent on the latter. Make up indirectly harms the skin by clogging up the pores, not to mention the chemicals it contains. The reason i said to an extent on the juice part is because of nutritional density, plants with the highest water content tend to have the highest anti-oxidant, as well as other extremely important nutrient content. I suggest educating yourself a bit more before making silly posts.

I can’t eat animal proteins because it makes me sick (Crohn’s disease, and fatty foods are a trigger). People like freelee are why I’m not taken seriously when I order a veggie burger with non-dairy cheese. They are definitely in the wrong, but I have empathy and I can understand why people get angry when they find out someone is vegan. She is so convinced that she is right, and she is perfect, that it disgusts me. I hate when people who lack humility. It’s so off-putting, but I can’t look away from her trainwreak. She really thinks, and tells other people, that her approach is how you get people to listen to you. Some people can be pestered and annoyed into listening to people, but not me. I need to feel like we could be friends. I appreciate direct honesty, but not in a condescending, arrogant way. It’s so easy to not put yourself on a higher level than people. If you think you are better than anyone except maybe a serial killer, dictator, abusive person, or cult leader, you are certainly not better than them.

@@Aceofwolves I agree that most people think that going vegan is way too hard to do. Suggesting that they take steps is a good way to approach them. And it is important to listen to people. However, replacing red meat with fish and chicken, which is the thing that everyone is doing these days and has been for quite awhile now, causes far more animal deaths and far more suffering! Well intentioned people do this all the time for many reasons. However, when people replace eating large animals with much smaller animals they eat many many more animals. And chickens are the most intensely raised animal of all. Their treatment is horrific. Too gruesome to describe. I suggest that people stop eating chicken. This reduces the number of animal deaths they are causing by about 90% and vastly reduces their suffering footprint. Gardein makes great chicken substitutes. Another thing to suggest which is pretty easy to do is to replace dairy milk with non dairy milk. So many choices these days.

What really helped me with my knee and joints issue was taking MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) powder every morning. I realized it truly made a difference when I stopped taking it for whatever reason and my joint pain was back. Never stopped taking it since. Of course, have a chat with your doctor or dietician. I just never heard about it before and got it almost by accident. So I want to spread the joy. :)) I take the vegan version.

Re.: reheating/microwaving It changes the taste of cow milk if it goes above ~ 65°C, that's why coffeinistas don't recommend reheating it, because there's a higher chance that it will reach that treshold and have an unwanted "cooked" flavor . But vegan milks might just be immune to that taste change 🙂

I think it’s not realistic to bring up the Holocaust and expect no strong emotions/reactions from people. It’s not deliberate, but most people cannot entertain an idea that they don’t agree with or that is at odds with their emotional inclination. For example, people who hate Trump or Biden will often have a hard time acknowledging that the one they hate has some positive qualities. They have no capacity to see them in an objective light. People can also eat cooked nettle as side dish to avoid iron deficiency...it grows almost everywhere and is great for people who do not like lentils and beans. But oats, tofu and millet are also great foods to get some iron. PS : Freelee may be indelicate in her approaches (especially when it comes to other people diets), but she is often very fucking funny (without even intending it).
