The train wheels on the back of the legs can be locked in with tension, fold out the train wheels and there is a small black tab you push down….and boom train wheels no longer wobble. Also the arm/shoulder joints do lock in as long as you have the backpack pegs pushed in. But I do agree this one feels not 100% with the QCs compared to the others.

Zeta didn't state they weren't in for partsforming - that's MMC. But Raiden is a 6-part combiner, so maybe that's why they decided to go against partsforming for this particular set.

Parts forming shouldn’t be an issue. All the original combiners from the 80s were parts forming. Then again half the fandom weren’t born then to understand that. It’s a fun piece and I want it combined anyways so the other two modes don’t really do anything for me anyways. I transform them once in each mode combined them and get on with my day

Serious question, so do you really think half of the fandom aren’t GenX that got to experience G1 real time? That’s an interesting theory that I never considered. I just assumed that the lions share of the MP scale G1 product we’re tearing open the original toys on Christmas morning in 84’ like me. Which, I guess if they were , there would definitely be less complaining lol.

The chest partsform is true to the animation though. The Headmasters intro had the chest piece come flying down from off-screen to connect to the combiner torso.

It's just pick and choose then. If you think parts forming based on G1 cartoon is acceptable, then there shouldn't be any standard simply because G1 cartoon doesn't have a standard in terms of transformation. Parts morphing into different shape is so common in the series.

I assume that you had the same issue that many did with the nose cone that wouldn't fit where it should. I cut some corners literally that fixed it.

The nosecone from hell. Just one step in his transformation makes said transformation a negative experience. But, other than that... the figure looks great and the combine mode looks amazing.

I think it's funny that people cry about parts forming, it's been proven to make the most stable combiners. For me, bring on the parts forming, if the combiner is better off because of it. Great review!

I love parts forming but I have to admit on the superion its weird because the chest head part basically eliminates the need for the robot at all.

@@doro626 Of course, with certain combiners that might end up being an exception to the rule. I'm sure for some of these it will be a case-by-case basis. I'm just glad someone is making these figures and that for many of them, parts forming seem to be making them more sturdy. All I know is that about a year ago my area had a 5.7 quake, the combiners with parts forming didn't fall, and the ones that didn't, all fell.

I’m actually pretty stoked that you didn’t break it. I’ve heard so many horror stories about this bot…and i have 2 sets of Moon Studios trainbots. I never planned to transform any of them to train mode though and I can see that this is where Moon Shine suffers

It’s only really the back pack you can break on this one. Iron arm is more serious. I’ve told a bunch of people already but those hips on iron arm are highly liable to break! Even in combined mode, I can see the hip on iron arm breaking, making the whole thing likely for me at least to just collapse like Rome.

A like the review, the line of all this trains are great, I think that's this is the less friendly of all, but it's still a great figure. Congrats for not break it!!!

I hit the lottery with mine only a loose ankle. I had no issues with the nose cone. I think it would help if you shaved just a tiny bit of material off the bottom of the windshield and front of the nose cone to give you more clearance, but I do agree you shouldn't have to doctor your toy out of the box.

I don't necessarily feel this bot was rushed, but I think much of the issue was final assembly may have been pushed through too fast to keep closer on schedule and it really shows with the nose cone, where I think the layer of paint pushes an already tight clearance too far. I imagine the fitment tests went great to start, but once everything was painted, little effort was placed on seeing how well everything lined up afterwards. As far as all the complaints on bot mode, my experience was much like with Iron Arm. Once everything was actually locked in properly, he's actually quite solid, but too many people club-thumbed their way through it without checking anything and then posted their frustrations anywhere that would listen.

My only problem with Shouki was the damn nose of the train and getting it where it needed to be. No loose ankle either which was a relief. He’s a beauty but yeah he’s probably the weakest of the set so far.

this was one of the smoothest transitions out of any of the bots so far... until you get to the nose cone 🤬 I did the rest of the bot in a third of the time but I jus cannot get the nose nose like you. must've let the rookie design that part..

Definitely imperfect. I had some issues with Kaen too, although that was mostly tabs not quite toleranced well and the copious amounts of panels (such as on all the waist pieces) not being glued together, so they kept popping apart. Paint issues too. Still, they do look great, and I'm sure the combiner will be great (though I admit I'm a bit worried about the shoulders). So... pretty much on-par with my FansToys Perceptor, though that one still has way more issues out of the box and FansToys haven't bothered getting back to me about that.

The hip on my iron arm popped out and broke. The only thing holding all that pressure for the hard ratchet is just a small bolt… very thin and fragile I surrounded by plastic casing. I wish it were a chunky screw since the thread would have been able to withstand the stress. Also, if they had only made that entire hip joint section out of metal, it would have fixed the whole problem! I’m on my third copy of Iron Arm now. Not impressed with Zeta at all! I feel they didn’t think this through as well as they could have.

100% agree. The nose is extremely frustrating for me as well. And some of the joints are too tight or way too loose, seems rushed compared to the previous ones. But the end result looks good.

Great Video. I was a little nervous that you were going to have to reset your days without breakage, but it was all good. I am glad to see the quality isn't dramatically different now that we are past the half way mark. I don't really like parts forming, but on these large gestalts I feel it is kind of neccessary to ensure it's polished and stable. I am curious if you are going to do versus whenever the Official Takara Tomy Raiden comes out. Maybe just a comparison of each robot as who knows how long it's going to take for the Takara one to actually be fully released? At this rate they are going to finish theirs before TT even puts out their first one. I am curious to see how they compare given that I'm not buying the TT one and only in on the Moon Studios one. I am excited to complete what I hope is my last 3rd Party Combiner for a LOOOOONG time. May the 4th be with you...and looking forward to a happy completion.

This one was a nightmare. The arm kept popping off at the elbow, the blue trim on the bottom by the nose cone doesn’t sit correctly in combine mode, and the one of the latches on the bottom that are supposed to connect it to the bottom half of Radiatron is extremely loose. This one should have been packaged in combine mode like the last one. Ugh.

You think that’s bad… My Iron Arm, which I bought two of, both broke at the hips. The legs just sprung off the sockets and bust the connection. It made the figure just impossible to use in any mode. Utter disappointment considering I wasn’t rough with it like some other figures I own.

the feeling handling this toy reminds me of the hypothesis that some engineers don't really handle the toys they design, which can lead to transformation that works well on paper but hard to execute (deformation space seekers have similar vibes idk).

I agree with everything in the video it seems rushed however there are multiple things that can be hepled. The wheels on the back of his leg have a tab that keeps it in place with tension. Probably not the best engineering. I don’t know how long you spend with each figure prior to review but I advise maybe spending more time with each figure so you can provide a full and accurate review of each figure. I may be completely wrong and you spend a lot of time with each figure and you just miss stuff which is fine and human. But as a very watched reviewer I suggest making sure you cover all your basis. Again this is not hate and I again agree with everything said w about this figure.

I don’t get that. Takara’s aren’t the same scale, or anywhere near the same aesthetic. Plus, aren’t like way more expensive? Don’t know much about this character, so it was an easy pass for me from either. I just know I heard some shitty things regarding Takara’s version

These are the worst hands in the MP TF action figure collecting world. In my opinion they are worse then the KFC old ones. I rather have a finger popping off from time to time then nbot being able to make a proper fist or a proper gun holding hand.

I could be wrong but it seems like these 3rd Party companies always release their best combiner bots first, followed by progressively worse ones as they go along. It's annoying. I still feel burned by XTB with their Monolith. Started off great then it was WTH happened in the end. Even the Sewage combiner Devastator seems to follow that pattern. I'm just so burnt out spending that much money feeling I'm getting a progressively mediocre release. I could be wrong, I'm just saying what's on my mind. Great review.

This is, by far, the worst of the first four trains in my opinion. Really just a giant swing and a miss, and the transformation is obnoxious. Yet, still not as obnoxious as people who only refer the train bots by their original Japanese names as if they always naturally knew their names (yet still mysteriously refer to the combiner as Ray-Den) Edit 2: I had the exact prob;em you had with the nosecone. I gave up on but it bothered me so much that the next evening I took an exacto knife to the plastic and finally got that bastard to fit together. Which I should not have to do. Edit 3: The lyrics to Come Together are nonsense and mean nothing.

This was the worst bot by far of the set. Connecting those ports to the other bot is a bitch too. I have mine combined. It's not as sturdy as the zeta combiners.
