I like to imagine in this AU, they do start as enemies, but over the course of some situation they both get stuck in and need to work together, it opens a door that was previously locked in their minds. Afterwards it would follow them still being enemies but getting closer with certain banter every now and then.

These were all made before any of that was confirmed. All we knew at the time is that Toffee knew a lot about the butterfly family because he knew the first spell Moon taught Star. A lot of people took that to mean that he knew moon personally. And so people started to think that they had some kinda relationship between them

Honestly I can see it. For this my headcannon is it started as a enemies to lovers where toffee killed her mother because moons mother attacked first under the guise of signing the peace treaty. She attacked toffee and the magical high commission and mina both worked together to hide it from the new queen moon in an effort to fan the flames of war and give moon the drive to eradicate monsters and perhapse even become like solaria.

ok,let me explain this since no one seems to understand ok,yes in the show toffee canonical did kill comet,but again moon x toffee or the Mon!Star au is fanmade,and the original creator: Kabuki Akuma decided to make moontoffee a ship. now with all the toxic hate due to people believing that the au is the same as the original-- its not.you see river and toffee switched,so instead of river as king of mewni you have toffee,and river is sorta more like ludo. now the ship itself is cute (my otp btw) but, you need to understand that there multiple star aus and people ship toffee with alot of things ex: star x toffee, rasticore x toffee, eclipsa x toffee,etc but people can have opinions and decide to ship things or not. these are words coming from a moonfee shippers head, and this is my opinion on it. but now you know
