22:25 - Two small chests are cheaper to construct, take up less room, and hold more material than a large chest. (40 vs 30) You might have been better off using four small instead of two large. However, I believe two small do weigh more than a single large

I have a truck pretty similar to this in my survival world. It’s a bit smaller, but I was able to cram two resource collectors, a pair of large chests, three small chests, and a cookbot into it by jamming the chests into the walls of the truck bed. It’s also surprisingly stable, considering the amount of heavy stuff (collectors, chests, cookbot, and I made the frame out of concrete) I put into it. Honestly, I’m surprised my truck is functional at all, considering the fact that you can easily see the patchwork in the underbelly (It used to be entirely wood, but I replaced everything I could with concrete to keep it from rolling over. I also had to cram in two level 2 suspension pieces for each back wheel due to the weight of the resource collectors and chests, which adds more weight and takes up more space that I could be using for storage. It’s definitely not the best vehicle, since it only has a level 3 gas engine entirely due to the fact that it sounds the most realistic to me and i could definitely use the space much more efficiently, but I’m proud of it.
@braedenbaker30883 жыл бұрын
You should add a trailer so you can have a trailer for some extra stuff. Like if you're going to make a second base, you can build stuff on the road, you can add chests for extra gas, extra blocks, etc.

@@danser_theplayer01 yeah hes right scrap mechanic is very gpu intensive in survival,so you will see low framerates in your recorded video export, you can easily medigate this problem by caping your framerate to 30 fps lowering the graphical settings doesnt seem to help so much,you can get these low framerates when using recording software like obs since obs needs some off your gpu's processing power and scrap mechanic is using all of it up
@DenserThanLead4 жыл бұрын
Quick cpu isnt easy to use and most people using it will end up making there performance worse because they dont know how to work with it since it's a little complicated.i myself have not found a video that explains every little detail about quick cpu just wat most people use it for manly undervolting for better long run performance.

For the kids following along at home, the two engines and two fuel tanks is not at all useful. With one level 5 engine and a car of that size, you'll be able to drive a fantastically long way (like several trips around the whole island) before you run out of gas. If you're looting along the way, you'll come out with extra gas because of gas dropping from chests.
@GABRIEL-ej4ei4 жыл бұрын
You should of used the double helix suspension it is way way better then the suspension you build, and I mean much better, try it
@johnjacobjingleheimerschmi66554 жыл бұрын
You could use something as hubcaps. Udders probably wouldn't look good. Drills and saws are a little different from the aesthetics, unless you add some more on the grill like a push guard, or something, but they'll add protection from haybots. Besides, i think you need to take a few spare tires anyways.
@percyscar13624 жыл бұрын
You should upgrade the mesh grille at the front into its higher tiers; it looks kind of wired since most cars don’t have a front grille that’s see through.

@indisputablefacts85074 жыл бұрын
I used to carry spare wheels, but then one time I had a... mishap. And ended up with a missing wheel. I refined a haybot leg and built a wheel out of the scrap metal. As you might expect from scrap mechanic, the car actually drove pretty darn well with the square wheel.
@spacewalk30464 жыл бұрын
Cool looking truck you got there Moonbo! But i kind of have to say that your suspension design is basically the same as regular pillar suspension but with extra bearings. I'm not saying you should remove it or anything but i think if you do regular pillar suspension it'll be better for lag. Usually i am more a fan of more custom complex sus designs but i think this is better for your world (lag-wise) also i think you forgot to include the link to your old exploration vehicle.

I think it would beneficial if you built the suspension more similar to an actual car, U bracket on top amd bottom, slightly off set at an angle so the shock is canted, and then set the tire on. That's how real cars are set up. Would be interesting to see it done in scrap mechanic.

nice work moonbo . you can make a little trick when making suspension to lower center of mass. take a spring. place a bolt on the bottom end. then you place a bearing between the bolt and spring and a pipe bend on that to fit wheel. can be a little tricky until you figure where to aim to place stuff between bolt and spring. used it on this prntscr.com/w1fl12 no blocks used. only4 lights 4 springs 4 pipebends 6 bearings 1 steel roof 4 bolts and 2 engines. rest is what you see expedition vehicle. exo skeleton makes alot of room too but is a pain to paint prntscr.com/w1fq2e

One engine powers one side of the car's wheels? That makes me a bit annoyed. If I were you, I'd have the left engine drive the front, and the right drive the rear wheels, so if one engine runs dry, the other is still there to power the car along (it won't be as easy to keep it straight, but, you can still make stuff more crude).

simple is always better considering how scrap handle many builds. i recommend suspension like this prntscr.com/100jzxp place a bolt on end of suspension then place a bearing and pipe for turning. aim where cursor is on picture to find the tiny hitbox to place them. lowers center of mass too and make it really stabile.
