The original Alan Parsons Project musicians Lenny Zakatek, Andrew Powell, Stuart Elliott, Richard Cottle and brother Laurence Cottle plus with super prog guitarist Dave Bainbridge will be playing along with a choir and orchestra in Barcelona on June 5th. This will be the first of a series of shows for 2 years. The originals will be always the best!

I think Alan Parsons is the heart and soul of the band, the major creative force ,he's the only member that can not be replaced without going out of style. Same thing as Mark Knopfler with Dire Straits . I guess it must be so since the group bears his name .

Alan Parsons is there but not doing what he's famous for : producer and sound engineer. On the recordings sessions he was in the mixing room and not playing with the rest unless there was needed an extra acoustic guitar or keyboards and for your information the creative force was ERIC WOOLFSON and it was him who preferred to call it The Alan Parsons Project . Estoy de acuerdo con tener diversas opiniones respecto a una banda o a un cantante en particular y ejercer el derecho a expresarlas. Lo que me parece absolutamente inaceptable es la descalificación. Siempre he coincidido en que si no tengo algo bueno que decir de alguien, el silencio es la mejor opción. Particularmente, es una de mis bandas favoritas y considero que PJ Olsson es un cantante que hace un magnífico trabajo con los temas de APP, da su toque personal pero respeta y se acerca enormemente a la interpretación original de cada canción.

No aporta en lo absoluto porque se vuelve ya algo personal y pierde objetividad. PJ es de mis músicos favoritos, considero que toca la vida de mucha gente de manera especial. Para mí ha sido una inspiración.

I took my son to see APP a few years back near Baltimore Maryland. They were an order of magnitude better then than they are in this video. FFS, I could sing most of the lead vocals better than this. I did get a few of my old CD inserts signed by the entire band. I've been a huge APP fan since late 1977. They were all very approachable and friendly after the concert. I think what Parsons and Woolfson created made them one of the best musical partnerships of the period. Some of the Reissues and remasters are even better than the originals. You need a digital format to get the best sound. Vinyl did not do justice to this powerful dynamic music. On vinyl the limitations forced very low levels on parts of the mix. Listening on my killer 7.2.2 system feels like I am at the concert.

I agree. While still pretty good, it's not a patch on the Live in Columbia concert which was much more polished. Also, Alistair Greene was far better lead guitar and, of course the 70-piece orchestra added immensely to the atmosphere.

So sorry to hear that. It's why I stopped going to concerts...again. When I was in my teens (in the 70's) going to concerts, nobody talked during the show. Even as adolescents, everyone was there for the music. Today, the audiences are littered with brats who were never made to care about anyone but themselves. Such a shame.

I made 5 vids of the Monday night April 15th show on my channel guys. Sadly not as close to the stage and recorded on an iPhone 6S. Overall a pretty good show but some better singers for sure. Not a fan of this PJ guy and the sax player,Todd. Score of the night though was a set of broken drumsticks and a copy of the set list from Danny Thompson himself.

......Phew, I'm a staunch APP fan but I found this a difficult listen. Why on earth is Alan singing (?), he just can't deliver a lead vocal. It was a 'going through the motions' set really. Those old numbers are so highly produced that you need a really solid, high quality band to carry them off. I appreciate that PJ was off-colour that night and did his best; but this was a very average performance imho. I'm still looking forward to the new album, but I've got mixed vibes about how good it's going to be somehow...... I'm trying to remain upbeat .....

I'm thinking to go to see them in August this year but after watching and seeing the vocalist (Olsson) I'm not sure now; he is boring, always his eyes closed 🥱 like if he doesn't believe he can make it right 🤔; he struggles to reach notes, He sings ugly. I think that the band has had enough time to find a more colorful vocalist? and w/no many out of tunes? unless there are not many good singers out there hug! 😒 pity, In my opinion vocalist are the front of the band, the one who gives the soul to the show, besides of course the star of the band maybe the guitar player or so ...

I expect something more from Alan Parsons live. This performance is horrible. The singer on "Time" is out of pitch continuously and the other singers don't come close to the original vocals and even talk some of the vocals. The musicians are mediocre I mean the bass player was playing root notes in "Dammed if I do" and not even close to the original.. I feel like I am watching a high school band. The stage and lighting are so bad. WTF, why are they all dressed like a heavy metal grunge band? This stage should be more elaborate in my option. This is a cash grab tour.

It should be noted that PJ Ollson was sick through this performance. Not making excuses, but just adding a little more data. I’m not a huge fan of his voice as compared to the original vocalists either.

Alan will most likely be dead in the next decade or so, be grateful these old greats are still touring, and the band sound fine, of course they aren't like the originals, but when artists start getting into their 70's very few of their original band members are alive, or fit enough to tour anymore. These guys sound good enough.
