I struggle to see the value proposition typically on stuff like this over much cheaper alternatives. Hell for the price of this entire thing you could get an LG v60. Or you could just add a $20 alternative or something that will probably drive 90% of consumer-facing headphones

You can also get a qudelik 5k get the benefit of the mobile app, the parametric EQ, the option of pass-through, but also Bluetooth with just about codec... And you'd still have like 80 or 90 bucks left over

Yeah…all these dac/amps are long in the tooth. Ikko had an interesting option for iOS where their portable plugged into Lightning then stuck to the back. Good idea, very bad implementation as my review unit never worked properly. Something like that is really the only logical accessory for phones and tablets.

I just tried Moonriver 2 Ti and Fosi Audio DS1 - while they are vastly different in price - when driving the Austrian Audio Hx60 with it - the Fosi Audio DS1 won by far. The sound was better. For me it felt like I got more detail out of the DS1 than the Moonriver 2 Ti when both had the same volume. I noticed that the Moonriver gives more power, but Fosi will give you the better sound signature. More bass and more goose bump feeling in the mids. This may not be the same for you - since it heavily depends on what you are driving - My Hx60 from Austrian Audio are only 25 Ohms.

No output impedance spec, most important spec since majority of dongles has over 1Ohm output impedance, which is really bad, take a look at Mojo 2 it's 0.06 ohms. All dongles should be at very least under 1 Ohm, not over like almost all are. So no impedance spec at all means it's atrocious.

Hi, would like to ask if you will be making a review on the new moondrop dawn pro, because a lot of people say, that the Moonriver 2 Ti is basically utterly irrelevant because of the dawn, if not a review, just a reply to this comment would be enough for me, because I am looking for a portable DAC/AMP, and I wouldn't like to lose 130 DAMN dollaz just for a sidegrade

No. I don’t have the Dawn Pro. The Ti is very much irrelevant. It’s a pointless, wasteful release given the original does exactly the same thing.
