Nice ..but I prefer not to be overly encumbered with connectors..so I run the IFI Go Blue…with a great Bluetooth decoder. Funny that they didn’t add Bluetooth…maybe on the 2.0 version 🥳 I think I’ll pass on this and look to the IFI Gryphon.😋 Great review 👍

100% agree - make it a little box and add BT and a battery in there. Plus make the 3.5 a 4 pole with a mic pass through!

@@carminedesanto6746 Or the es100/quedelix 5k/BTR5/etc. The only thing I really want is the ability to pass through a mic input to a computer so I have something where I can take wired headphones using BT when travelling and then use a mic/headphone combo at work for calls and music with a decent dac/amp. Dream dongle!

I think you should compare all of these dongles to the basic Apple dongle dac as well. Use the dongle dac as a baseline for "good enough," and let us know how much more improvement are these hundreds of dongle dacs that are flooding the market.

@@siddharthtandon7588 I agree. I think most people will find the Apple dongle "good enough" with a nondemanding headphone, so I think it makes sense to use it as a baseline comparison. Why not?

@@tanachip Joshua Valour actually explained why this is basically useless in his review of the same product and why he doesn't do it. Basically, these are obviously better than Apple's dongle. There's no need to compare them because they're completely different realms of audio and it's silly comparing a $200 product, to a $10 one. It's like comparing it to your phone or laptop, it makes no sense, provides zero useful information to the end viewer. This IS better than those, you don't need comparisons to understand that. It's also close to impossible to say 'how much better' they are unless you hear it yourself. They're better, marginally better, that's literally all you can say on it If you're one of the people who finds Apple's dongle 'good enough' then the product and review isn't for you

It can do half a watt on balanced which destroys other dongles. It's a monster. Apparently a shorter cable reduces the heat, so I hear.

Great review. Check out the Ugreen cm402 BT adapter with cs43131. Clean noise floor, adaptive variable output power, aptx HD, amazingly cheap. They dont advertise the chip though. Took me a while to find info. Works as a USB dongle too. Can you do a comparison with the other dongles you have to see how much of a difference you can make out? I am wondering if I should eventually get a better dongle. My phone also has cs43131 so it's quite consistently sounding with or without the BT.

Replaceing the original otg type c to DDHFI TC03, will improve tonality and tevnicality for this stuff, seriously.....more detil, clear, wider staging an deeper layering.....just try...

UA5 is an excellent DAC but unless you really want the display and extra features, something like the Link2 Bal or even UA3 would be good enough. I'd recommend the Raptgo Hook X, Letshuoer S12,Moondrop KATO or DUNU Vulkan for earphones.

Ultimately, the UA5 has better audio quality but the difference is far less than you might expect. To put it into context, I have both up5 and ua5 and the up5 is my daily driver going to and from work. I only use the ua5 on my laptop.
