Evening Del I have just up graded the suspension on my t120 Bonneville.I put on yss piggy back shocks and progressive rate springs in the front I am 108 kilos ridding weight so the supplier fitted the correct rate springs on the rear before shipping them to me The transformation to the bike since then and the yss steering damper i fitted is bloody amazing All up it cost 2150 dollars Money well spent Have a great evening Del and Penny

Hey Del. Yep, Wemoto are great. I ordered my Nitron from them for my Blackbird but went for a remote preload adjuster for when her indoors gets on the back. Crazy thing is, Wemoto were cheaper than Nitron themselves. I even phoned Nitron to see if they would price match Wemoto so I could deal with them directly for my shock, but they couldn't!. I had a pre-conceived idea that Wemoto just had a few on the shelf and that they'd send one that kinda suited your weight and I understandably wanted it to be spot on for me. I can now say that when you order your shock from Wemoto they then order it through Nitron so you know the shock is tailor made for you and you riding style etc. Spoke to the guys at Nitron on the phone a few times too and they're a great bunch to deal with. As for the shock Del, it is simply amazing. Completely transformed my Blackbird with the help of a set of fork internals from Daugherty Motorsport in Murica. Just one question though. Are you now thinking you should have ordered a black spring, or are you happy with your choice??
@Moonfleet416 жыл бұрын
Hey Mogs, great to hear that wonderful feedback about Nitron mate, as I've said many times in the comments here, we're hearing over and over from owners of top class sportsbikes that they are vastly improving the handling no end... GSXR1100, a FZ1, ZX14 and now your Blackbird... these are no nonsense super bikes and come with good suspension from the factory, so it's a pure testimony from multiple feedbacks that they're an excellent product... I bought mine set up for an 89kg rider but I'm only 75kgs, so it's gonna be a little stiffer than I need, I'll run it on the lightest damping and zero pre-load and see how it feels... have also jacked the back up 1" so it's gonna tip in a lot quicker as well... should be a right little minx to ride lol... Thanks again buddy, really appreciate your feedback..... and I quite like the turquoise spring, may factor in some of that colour on the paintwork , who knows!!
@AoP8936 жыл бұрын
Loving that nitron. Can you do a vid of a basic setup of that nitron when it comes to it? Many youtube vids on suspension but you have a knack for explaining things :)
@Moonfleet416 жыл бұрын
You know what?? I will indeed mate, I am by no means any form of expert on suspension, but it's always important to set your suspension with the right sag at least, so I'll cover that for sure, along with the forks once it's all back together - thanks for the nudge mate...

Hi DellBoy. Was watching your videos since i bought my first bike witch was 2012 you helped me many times and teach me a lot of tricks.. one thing i picked up from this video that you have used wire brush to clean a bolt and as much i remember you were explaining in one of your previous videos (long time ago) that cleaning a bolt with wire brush is no good becouse it will take protective coating away.. maybe i mistaken. Anyhow great video cant wait to see street fighter done.
@Moonfleet416 жыл бұрын
Hi buddy, yes indeed, that is quite right, if you have zinc plated bolts, then a wire mop will remove that plating... but these bolts are stainless steel, so can be cleaned with a wire mop to bring them back to a bright, shiney finish... good to hear from you again, take care and thanks for watching...

The swing arm looks great in the bike Del. I couldn't believe how much it cost to refurbish a shock when mine went on my old GSX600F. I almost bought an upgrade but luckily in the end I went for the cheapest option of a salvage shock from the states as the bike was written off a month later buy a courtesy car driver.
@Moonfleet416 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it is a lot of money aye mate... but I guess it'a a labour process on a product that was initially mass produced... so it adds up aye?! Sorry to hear about the write off, hope you weren't hurt.... D&Px

I wasn't hurt and to be honest the bike still rode it was mostly fairing damage and engine cases visible damage. It quickly adds up though especially when the bikes only worth £1000 and insurers use factory parts.

Mate, just putting it out there. Have you considered making everything black to match the frame? The tank, under section and the rear, change to black. This will give an overall meaner look to it, just personal preference. That satin black just looks amazing. If that was covered all over, black on black would look stunning.
@Moonfleet416 жыл бұрын
Have considered that mate, but it's quite difficult to pull off triple black, as it's usually called, it can end up looking like a rat bike specially when it's dirty... but it can be done if you use a few subtle extras, like some silver brushed stainless, and carbon accents, plus am pretty keen to , maybe, include some green and not the classic '9 parts yellow/1 part blue' that we all love, but the more dark metallic green they use... don't know yet mate, it's a fair way off still !
@KayzahGB6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think triple black would be pretty easy to pull off on that bike. Just an idea, glad you considered it haha!

Amazing job there Del and Pen! Can’t imagine taking all of those shots was easy and the editing must’ve been mega intensive. I’m going to ask a daft question now Del, but how to you remember where every nut and bolt goes and in which order to reassemble? I always keep nuts and bolts in numbered little tubs and always fasten the nuts to their corresponding bolt but this video blew my mind. I’m sure it must come down to experience and skill level! Cracking vid as always, many thanks. Take care, Dai
@Moonfleet416 жыл бұрын
Hey brother, good to hear from you... and I don't know about skill, but certainly experience, you get used to where the bolts go, and would you believe, oddly enough, most fasteners are actually different to each other... so often only fit in one place! But the good old freezer bag and post-it notes method has served me well over the years... especially if it's gonna be apart for a long time for an on-going project ... and hey, I'd swop you any day for those awesome knife skills of yours! Chat soon, soon be Spring aye buddy, D&Px

@DevinJuularValentine6 жыл бұрын
The frame all unified looks tidy indeed. I keep meaning to ask, how have you built up your nuts, bolts and fastener inventory? I've tried looking all over the shop but the daunting thing is that there are so many sizes, thread counts, lengths, and nowhere sells a simple bumper pack as far as I have seen. What are the sort of must-haves to keep in stock in a garage? I have a little 50 to restore but pricing up the bolts directly came to over £100 - some were definitely overpriced.
@Moonfleet416 жыл бұрын
You could try Pro-Bolt kits buddy, I think they do tubs of general fasteners, if you're going for metric, I generally work on M6, M8, and M10 but 6 & 8 are the most common on a bike, then a range of lengths, I usually go for a quantity of 16mm, 20mm, 25mm , then nuts to match, both regular and nylock, plus washers - the initial set up did cost me over £100, but it's the purchase that keeps giving, I keep them in the size matched drawers and then when you get down to a dozen, I just buy a pack of 25 of that size, which is way cheaper as you're only replacing the ones you need - but like all things, the initial set up is the main cost... good luck with your build!
@DevinJuularValentine6 жыл бұрын
Moonfleet41 It would be a relief just to have this stuff on hand for when I fling a nut into the black void of the frame (or down a drain)! And when I strip a bolt. Hah! I will look into the Pro Bolt kits :)

Hi mate, I can't re-build the factory shock as it's a specialist job because it's a gas charged shock, and requires specialised equipment, would cost a lot to have it re-built and re-furbished, almost as much as a new one, which is a better quality shock...

Looks ace, you're right about the shock, all the time and effort to get it refreshed wouldn't outweigh a direct replacement such as hagon etc. Better design and adjustments with a seriously good look. I was looking for an oil filler cap for my zx7r, seemed very difficult to find, even on ebay the few on there were over £20, discovered a website www.kawasakioriginalparts.com which is a UK based Kawasaki dealer which still has oem new parts for the ZX7R, well worth a look as it includes the parts diagrams, I sourced a cap for £4 on there instead of the obsurd used prices.

Hi Kevin, I haven't used it myself mate, but have heard about it... it seems to work very well by all accounts, as you found! Yes that is very true I don't have a garage a 6x4 shed on back yard that has a good home made bench. a vice a pillar drill like the old one you had a 20 litre compressor and a lot of inexpensive spanners sockets screw drivers and oh lol a pair of pink axle stands and tips from you I used the plastic pipe and exhaust clamps tip to successfully put seals in forks and wheel bearings head Stock bearings all from wemoto at a good price fast delivery and just done swing arm bearings rattle can spraying and the list goes on and on and there's nothing I can't do with a bit inventiveness and watching your videos job done saved me a small fortune thanks 👍

Dear friend, I am amazed by your work, I continue to tell you recently, but I have decided, you are going to be my mechanic. I would like to see how my machine works after you put it on. Dreaming is free for my. Greeting my master.

Looking rather fine there Del. I bought the Nitron shock last summer but it did not come with the preload adjuster tool?? Wish Simoniz would make tough silver also

Hi Paul, I've noticed the colour range expanding over the last couple of years, in fact the change of name to 'Tough Paint' as opposed to the old name 'Tough Black' was probably because they started doing different colours, but you're right, no silver yet... however, you could paint your parts with the first two coats in Tough Paint and then use their Wheel Paint over the top for the final coat... you'll still get the tough resilient finish you want, but also the final colour will be what you want.. just a thought mate, maybe that would be a second best for ya??

Moonfleet41 That’s an interesting thought, may just try that. Did my wheels in satin black after watching an older video of yours. Now want to some smaller parts and the swingarm in silver, can’t get bobbins for the older Hornet and fed up with the paddock stands rubber cups scratching it. Cheers Del

Hi Russell, so good to hear from you mate... just watched your video out on the bike with Mrs Wilson, look like you had a great time, I wish more couples would ride together... so often we go to bike meets and she's the only girl there, there has to be more girl riders out there aye?? Thank you so much for your kind support, it's amazing that our videos have been able to help you in some way... welcome aboard my friend, it's great to have your support... ride safe and stay in touch, all the very best, D&Px

Looking really good Del, it's exciting to watch it all coming together now! Given it's a Kawasaki, are there any plans to incorporate some 'green' into the paint job? 😉
