many years ago I read an interview with Adamski in a music technology magazine, he described how he came to construct 'Killer' he was messing around with the bassline and accidentally assigned the midi channel of the bass line to the TR909 he was using and the bass line literally 'played the drum part' which is the effect you hear particularly well at the beginning of the track, he described it as a 'happy accident' that inspired the whole tune. He also mentioned his dog, who's bark he sampled, if you listen carefully to the instrumental breakdowns after the 'live your life the way you wanna be' verse you can hear his dog's bark in the mix. great great tune, perhaps the best dance track ever made.

I died twice while they were diagnosing me and once during the heart operation to remove the abcess and replace my heart valve and peform a bipass for good measure. I've only got out of hospital last week and the doctors said the dreaded words....."Your getting older now, you need to chill out and stop taaking the chemicals and any other shit your putting in your body." Kids, it will catch up on you sooner or later. just my luck it happened before the Artic Monkeys. But at least I got to see queens of the stone age!!! But seriously kids do things in moderation. I remember seeing this come onto the number 1 spot on Top of the Pops in the 1990s and thinking, "what the fuck is this and how has anyone heard of it?" Now I understand. This was a perfect fusion of the '80s infatuation with technology and the future, '80s pop - which would become 90s dance, and soul music. It was prophetic. Especially those discordant bleeps you hear in the background towards the end are so telling - they're like the distance computer chirps one can hear in Quake 1 on the slipgate levels. We knew we were coming into an era whereby digital technology would be vital, unavoidable, intrinsic to our daily lives and everywhere around us... and music obsessively reflected this [and, to an extent, created it].

This song was a huge hit back in the 90s! This was also the song that was number 1 I was born. Time goes by quickly. Can’t believe this is nearly 30 years and it’s still a classic!

Seal went on to win just about every Brit award he was eligible for in 1992, achieved world fame with Kiss From A Rose, and is still a much respected figure, though he isn't exactly prolific. When this brilliant track came out in 1990, Adamski was a leading figure in the Rave movement, and Seal was a complete unknown. What happened to Adamski?
@Cobalt-Jester6 жыл бұрын
It didn't come out in in 1990. It was released into the charts in 1990. As with most tunes of the day It was out in the clubs a few years before. There's even a few videos here on YT with Adamski Live in the late 80's playing it. Without Seal, of course. lol

THANK YOU for bringing this song back to us!!! I'm a huge fan of both -- Adamski and Seal still sound so pioneering and amazing... classic and still so fresh. If anyone wanted to add a beat 'drop', re-release it in a couple live sets (e.g., Blue's sets on Sense8) and it'll reign SUPREME over music tracks again!!!
