Me and my cousin made a deal for 10 dollars. The deal was if I can play Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement in 5 years. If I can play it I will have 10 $! I I have 4 year and 5 months from now on. Thanks for all of these important tips

5 years and only 10 dollars?
@demon9166 Жыл бұрын
@@sp1r1tus73 He was actually going to make it 50 dollars at first but then he realized that I might be able to do it in 5 years so he decided to reduce it down to 10 dollars. He doesn't have much money and dollar is pretty expensive in our country at the moment. The thing is I was going to play Moonlight Sonata anyway. So I hope I will get some easy money.

How I should play the part after the broken arpeggios (C# - F# - A - C#/ C# - E - G - C#)? I have been practicing it for a long time and still can’t play it acceptable at original tempo

I have the same problem. I really don’t know got to fix it 😭
@zhongkang67776 ай бұрын
This is probably late but if you still have that problem I recommend you practice just the transition part from C# to C# with your thumb and pinky and when you press the C# with your pinky you should use your pinky as sort of a hook to pull your thumb to the C#.

Does anyone struggle with forearm burn on the arpeggios? I’m trying to find techniques to resolve this but I can’t seem to fix it. My forearm needs a break after each play through.
@pjbpiano Жыл бұрын
Forearm burn means you’re not yet relax enough. It also implies that your technique is not ready to play arpeggios. So the question is, how are you playing them? Where does your finger stroke originate? From the first joint or from the knuckle? Are you using forearm weight? Are you using your elbow to give weight to the fingers? Or are you pulling at the keys with isolated fingers? You might have to slow down and take time to answer these questions before you proceed trying to play the piece.

@@marcus5185 g Greetings, it means that you have a lot of tension in your forearm. It means you are trying to go fast too soon. I learned from my first piano teacher how important it is to practice slowly, and not rush to play it fast. Also, do more technical exercises particularly arpeggios to build up your technique. Good luck, be patient you will get it. 🎹🎶

@@pjbpiano I agree, I often have to tell my students to slow down and practice slowly, and not rush to play fast too soon.

It's extraordinarily difficult to play beautifully. On the on e hand, the movement is basically a Baroque four-voice toccata (even when it's not notated so poliphonically) written by a late Classical composer who knows every Bach trick in the book and adds his own twists to it so it's even more tricky. On the other hand, between all the movements of the sonatas Opp. 26 and both 27 this is the closest it comes to a sonata-form movement (it's actually more like a piano concerto first movement with an elaborate cadenza and second, prolonged development section - as a finale; compare it with what's yet to come, the very beginning of the E-flat major concerto, the same arpeggios), and therefore phrasing all the music from beginning to end is extremely challenging. It's a baroque-inspired piece that is meant to sound passionate, excited, yet controlled at the same time. When people say "even easy Chopin /Haydn/Mozart is difficult" this is the kind of difficulty they're talking about. Mastering the arpeggios, tremolos, octave leaps is merely your ticket to being able to form the music's structure which is all performance is about.

On a less intimidating note - do it! Learn it, play it your way. It's the way music was written - to be read, to be tried! It's meant to be FUN (albeit through a lot of work, as most fun stuff is.) And I think a major reason this movement is such an eternal hit is because it's so much fun to play.

The arpeggios grouping are not the correct one. So many tutorials group the arpeggios begin grouping from the thumb, but that’s wrong. The grouping starts from the fifth finger. And though the teacher here plays it the correct way when playing the piece, he still uses the wrong grouping to explain how to practice it. It you focus on the thumb to connect the arps when practicing, you will run into some trouble when you have to play it at tempo. Trust me. I’ve been there.
@PianoTechSupport Жыл бұрын
Well PJB, if you know so well, please do your own videos. This grouping has worked for me and many others...
@pjbpiano Жыл бұрын
@@PianoTechSupport, this is not a challenge of authority. If you reread the notes in the arpeggios, you will see it starts on the last note of the inversion. Not the first. There’s no need to pretend like you cannot be wrong about what you are saying. It helps others to check what they are doing and not getting right.
