Hello ! This roleplay was mainly inspired by the Little Women movies (especially the 1994 version, my favorite), and I hope you’ll enjoy the nostalgic vibes :) Prenez place, et que la leçon commence ! Timestamps : 00:00 Intro 01:18 Welcoming you & taking the register (inaudible whispers) 02:48 A few words about the french language (tracing) 03:50 French alphabet (pointing on the chalkboard) 06:47 Basic phrases (writing on the chalkboard) 14:35 Counting (abacus) 19:28 Learning words (wooden tokens, paper sounds, inaudible whispers) 26:37 Choosing a book / french reading (crinkly books) And did you know… French has been the official language of diplomacy in Europe for a very long time. Like french, romanian is another language that derives from latin. French is currently spoken in more than 40 countries spread out across 5 continents !

English is actually one of the hardest languages to learn because it's a mess of germanic and romance languages that doesn't follow almost any consistent rules. Both Spanish and French are much easier, especially if you already speak one of them.
@zoebrun60412 жыл бұрын
@@regrettablemuffin9186 I actually don't think English is one of the hardest languages to learn, its grammar is really simple and easy to understand, and it is known that French is on the opposite a complicated language to learn because of its grammar that's very dense and complicated, unless you already speak a latin language such as Spanish
@jackiereynolds28882 жыл бұрын
Both French as well as Spanish are both heavy derivatives of Latin. To study Latin would naturally be extremely beneficial to any of the 'root' languages.
@americafy9195 Жыл бұрын
Well, you can think whatever you want but you're in fact wrong. English has one of the hardest phonology in the world and its grammar isn't overall simpler than its french counterpart, with the exception of conjugation. Truth is, the use of prepositions is much harder in English than it is in French. And I'm not even talking about orthography, which is a complete mess in English, with no consistency at all. The reason English is easier to learn does not lie in the language itself but in its omnipresence throughout the world whereas you're almost never exposed to French if you don't live in a country where it's widely spoken.

I’m Italian/German girl living in Florence and I always liked French, I found it very beautiful but I little difficult to pronounce especially for the words with the “r” (tell me if I’m wrong) . Unfortunately I never studied it and I’m learning a totally different language at university but my friend, she’s french and also she’s studying in my same university, is teaching me a little bit her language. The video is super relaxing and helped me a lot. Merci.
@she70612 жыл бұрын
R is very difficult. A good way to think of it is kind of like coughing and hissing at the same time, and you want the back of your tongue on your soft palette, it makes the throaty sound you need. Once you’ve mastered the harsh sound, you push less air and it makes a much more soft sound that’s perfect for the r’s
@van3ll0pe2 жыл бұрын
with the old French, we rolled the r with the tip of the tongue like the Spanish and the Italians but over time, now we roll the r with the throat and no longer the tongue

In English we used to use 'thou' for our friends until we developed trust issues and realised that at a solipsistical level everyone is a stranger. Now we just hate everyone equally with 'you'.
@mirandak72424 жыл бұрын
yeah, it's really funny that only the formal version stuck around😂
@rds75164 жыл бұрын
When printing became a thing, people didn't have a ligature for the "th" sound (written as þ back then) so people just used the letter y. Which is why you also have things like "ye olde shoppe". Assuming the y in thou just stuck around and merged with the plural you.
@naturally_roisin4 жыл бұрын
@@rds7516 Yes! This irritates me so much when people pronounce "ye olde" as written. It still says "the old" just with different spelling.

Weird, I always thought 'thou' was more formal! I had no idea! Does that mean 'thine' 'thee' and 'thy' were considered informal as well?
@karajacobs77564 жыл бұрын
@@David-un4cs yes they are all informal. That is why in Shakespeare's Othello when Iago is manipulating Othello he switches to the formal 'you' to fake respect and subservience. He's doing everything to get Othello to believe him. It's subtle but beautiful.
