In US we work 2-3 jobs. One main job for 8 hours, after that couple of flexible side hustle for few hours everyday. Side hustle will take care of “want” expenses. We are able to save more and invest more. This helps to early retirement and enjoy life. Unfortunately when we are in India, we work for 12 hours when we are paid for only 8 hours.

@@sajidabegum5870 Very true. Even here in US, nobody likes to work with Indian managers. My manager is not an Indian but he is so good. If he sees me online during a non working hours, he will ask me to sign off. He will tell not to pick office calls in weekend. It’s been 4 years I’m working with him, he still doesn’t have my phone number. He never asked for it. Never called me once in four years. In this year alone I’ve taken full week leave four times. Never even once he has asked for reason. For Indian managers, we have to beg for even two leave and have to tell the reason and they will validate if two days is required for that reason. So bad.

My thought behind Moon Light was , IT Job is always unstable, one has develop his/her skills always in order to sustain in same Job or may be he/she must switch to different job type. The primary goal is like Money flow shouldn't stop for a person coz , most of the people doesn't have backup with no job. For that reason, a person can do moonlight which shouldn't affect the primary job. Advantage is if he/she lost the job, he/she can move forward boldly to get another one. This fast developing world expecting more from one person.

Everyone deserves a good lifestyle and good money flowing inside their pocket. When Employees are given what they need, why will they aim for more salary? why will they freelance to keep their skills alive?

The company pays only for 8 hours and not for 24 hours. So anything after 8 hours it's their own personal interest. US allows people to do multiple jobs but not at same time frame. Compare the economy of both the companies. We understand the our government does this to keep people with family and not to run for money. If it's the intention, then follow 40 hours per week hour rule and apply it for all work type and industries to treat every one equally. Then it will make sense to implement moon sun what ever it is.

People moonlight because companies are reluctant in giving them good skills and economical benefits. Employees are normal human beings, striving for a good position in their life every single day. I would say it is a management failure than blaming employees.

This is a biggest problem when people don't get job you blame all the companies and when u earn a job you start looking for the companies after 1-2 years jumping from one to another company doing partime works. I am not saying right or wrong when people who work for 8 hours a day they get a compensation from the company and when they choose another company for 8 hours with high / low salary in freelance they will obviously reduce the office work and also perform low. The company should hire a person with his willingness to opt for moonlighting or not then this problem will solve. If a person opt for moonlight his salary will be as per the company norms but he / she will be fired immediatly if there is no performance , where as if not opted then the they should get salary norms + advantage of not been fired immediatly from the company if they needed they serve a notice period. This is my opinion

Companies thrive at the cost of employees. Make them work long hours and reap benefits from clients. They deserve this. Indian companies will lose if they fire. These companies hit the work life balance out of a person's life and make them along for hours. In many companies the log in time is more than 9.15 hrs per day. Where are the labour rules, added to the commute time. It's a debate that's long awaited. After fleecing a resource till their last drop of blood , deny hikes and promotions with lame excuses. The field undergoes a change. Employers take their bitter medicine before it's too late.
