#3, u nailed it. We just reconnected again after 3yrs apart. We were dating, wanting to get married, trying for a baby. Broke up suddenly, each dated someone else right after but we're both still heart broken. He married his & is now getting a divorce after a yr or so. I'm trying to leave mine because it isn't healthy. So we're both emotionally drained & trying to heal. We're still loving to each other & are friends now, the connection is still there, the attraction, & the affection. But we aren't pursuing anything & we just keep it at an arms length. I had a talk with him last week about where his feelings were at and he told me he was very attracted to me and finds me funny and likes spending time with me. He's had relationship trauma in the past, so he likes to see how things go as friends first and slowly progress from there. He does think we get along well and that he is continuing to date me because he is interested in the possibility of a relationship with me, he's just taking it slow. Went through something similar and I feel duped by him. This is the 2nd person in last 5 years who made me feel duped. I used to feel bad when someone on dating site would reject me by looking at my pics or just after 1st date, but after having 2 bad experiences, I feel those people who straight up rejected me initially were still better.. atleast they didn't waste my time and didn't give me false hopes. Pile 1... been in LDR for almost 2 years. He made many plans to meet and kept canceling it giving me some serious reasons which were not even true sometimes.. atleast in my case. He just met me twice in 2 years(even though we live just 5 hours/300 miles apart) and both times I had to give him ultimatum to meet or else me ending the connection... but really I don't even feel good about it anymore.. I feel like it has to come naturally from him whether he wants to meet me or not. Just yesterday he told me he got a job in another state almost 1500 miles apart and he is planning to move there. I rejected him once and walked away once in last 2 years, but he always wanted to make it work and kept coming back, but never took any action. Right now as well he wants to keep me in his life even though he is moving. Just 10 days back he told me that he gets energy after talking to me, so it makes him feel better, so my guess is he is keeping me around just for that and not serious about building anything real with me.

@@acecala3576 Mine is in Cape Town , S. Africa, and I'm in NYC. We spent a week together in 2019 (after chatting 2 yrs) right before Covid hit. We wanted to spend more time together but between lockdowns, curfews, no flights available, travel bans, it was impossible for him to fly to me. Many disappointments. Plus S. Africans experience loadshedding (power outages) -- he came unhinged and is still recuperating from it all. After being 3x vaxxed, and travel ban lifted last Jan, he wanted to come for his birthday, next week. We even had tickets for one of his fave bands. He was at the airport for his Friday flight all day and evening and Delta rebooked the flight. I think he got covid sitting in that airport since he rarely goes out and is super germ phobic -- or maybe he got it in the cab going home. Who knows. I had it last Jan. but very mild since 3x vaxxed. He's already feeling better, so by next week we can plan again. I'm just sad he won't be here for his birthday. I've heard many stories about men jerking women around, but I'd be incredibly surprised if he was doing that since we've been in near daily contact since early 2018, and when we get on the phone hours pass like minutes. Plus we're much older and both have so much history, I don't expect perfection. Only thing I resent a little is this video game he's hooked, but after 2 yrs isolation, it relaxes him so I understand. It's very violent, but also beautiful. My hope is that after spending time together again we can decide where to go from there. I know his mother needs him and he's torn. But he's got few opps in S. Africa and plenty in NYC so we'll figure it out. Hope it all goes well for you. ❤

@@WhineyOne I helped him pay for it but everything has been true. The economy in S. Africa is tragic and he's white and can't get work. Like I said we've been involved for near 5 years and I've known conmen. He isn't one. I met him in Cape Town, and he's not married. He lives with his mother. We met on FB in a film group, and became friends. We began chatting and he introduced me to music I didn't know existed, lots of Goth and industrial, books, films, etc. My friends were skeptical of him, as you are, and when I see comments like yours it plants seeds of doubt, which then my friends and therapist tell me "Stop watching tarot, and stop reading comments"! Honey, I've been married 3X to men I didn't have half the rapport I have with this one. It may not last but we'll always be friends. Oh did I forget to say he's HOT AF? Every flight was legitimately cancelled. Obviously you haven't been paying attention to travel news during Covid. And nearly every person I know has had covid, including my best friend who has it now. Why is so hard to imagine he can't get it? Cape Town is newly spiking again. I live in NYC and faced with idiots on the subways without masks and may get it again too. I'm just saying your friend's story is not mine, and if it comes to be that I'll deal with it. I've known men with money all my life. No chemistry. During the pandemic I received unemployment plus extra, and stimulous checks. He was to get $25 a month and didn't ever get it, because he's white and my black friends in S. Africa verified that. These people are using us as a therapist, but put a good facade initially. You realize the actual them after months/years and until then you are emotionally destroyed by them. Mine keeps taking energy from me, I always felt drained after talking to him for 15-30 mins and now I realize why. 10 days back he told me he gets energized after talking to me and is able to focus more on his work and studies and that's the main reason he talks to me. I am pushing him out of my life soon.
