Jon Pertwee will always be ‘my doctor’. His portrayal was very atmospheric for the time. Before all these special effects, it was Jon’s superb acting and supporting cast, Katy Manning, Elizabeth Sladen etc, plus the rather eerie music at times, that left a lasting impression on me. R.I.P. Jon & Liz 🥰👍

Yeah he was great in the role. A mixture of Sherlock Holmes, James Bond and Bruce Lee ! Because the show was broadcast around 5 o'clock in the evening, it was most children's first experience of horror - so it leaves a lasting impression.

I met Jon Pertwee in 1993. He was so nice and he signed me his autograph. He was the first actor from Doctor Who I ever met. Later I met Peter Davison, Paul McGann, Colin Baker, John Levine, Sylvester McCoy and Karen Gillan.

It's the way he tells them! 🙂 He was such a gentleman. He was MY Doctor when I was growing up; as a 9 year old when he appeared on screen, I was captivated by his presence (though of course I didn't know that at the time!!)... I'd loved Hartnell and Troughton, but Pertwee just just WAS the Doctor for me back then.... 🙂 I've obviously since heard and seen his other work, but he's still my Doctor... much as I love McCoy, and later Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi, there's still only one Doctor for me! I loved Worzel Gummage too, but it never felt 'real' to me after his Doctor, so I don't have the same feelings towards it - great as it was - but, Jon is the Doctor.... Always the gentleman; much missed.....

That's actors for you, it's not uncommon for them to lie, after all they live in a world where they always pretend to be somebody else.. I've heard many older actors tell the same stories about school or meetings with then big name directors and put themselves in frame as though it actually happened to them for real.. All they're doing is remembering something they've heard and will change a little, possibly exact place or person and fit it into a story involving themselves. More difficult today as we can check things and watched multiple old interviews one after the other and see it's just stories passed off as facts

@@neildelaney5199 The problem you see is neither the unemployed nor immigrants. It's the bone idle corrupt tax dodging greedy wealthy who manipulate the populace, by continually suggesting Joe Bloggs on the dole next door is the main culprit. If you googled ‘safe and mild mannered tv presenter’ I wouldn’t be surprised if the first image wasn’t a picture of Derek Batey. Pertwee was my favourite Doctor Who by a MILE. Both are much missed talents. RIP. I loved the theme music. Did every audience member have to be older than methuselah to gain entry? Now wonder the show was only an (itv) half hour, it gave the audience at least a fighting change of reaching the end of the show alive. 😂😂
