Fun fact! This song was voted forward in a joint operation by XU and Epic Underground were the bands voted between was thought as essential metal bands one have to have heard. :) Moonsorrows song Jäästa Syntynyt/Varjojen Virta have won an Alliance poll before but it is 30 minutes long and V&S did not wanna do it. :P Maybe now you want to rethink about that decision @VIn and Sori! ;p

Didn't wanna do it ? well.. it's their problem, they don't know what they're missing :) 30 minutes of perfect versatile music, best 30 minutes piece I've ever heard, not boring for a second. Honestly same goes for the second song of that album, the "only" 26 minutes one.

After the previous Moonsorrow pick was vetoed for being too long, we (XU and EU) were determined to make sure Moonsorrow did eventually get a reaction. This band is massively important. The 4 bands that made it to the end of this essential bands poll all deserve a reaction. as much as I love Moonsorrow I did not vote for them on this poll, simply because the band they were up against is so incredibly important. But alas, that band did not win. It was a very close vote. Hopefully some day... Terrific song, though you really should have done the 25 minute one that won the first poll. One of the most epic songs out there.

I'm honestly very satisfied with this being the song, if it hasn't been for the reaction I dont think I would have discovered it, even though I'm a massive moonsorrow fan :P And I do find the song incredibly awesome, as many of their songs are!

Fastest click in a long time! I don't listen to a lot of folk metal, but I love Moonsorrow, (top-10 all time band for me), probably because they're on the blackened side of folk metal (otherwise called pagan metal if I'm not mistaken). Great discussion too.

@@haurg7418 Varjoina Kuljiemme Kuolleiden Maasa. (Thanks to my Google keyboard for memorizing their crazy names.) Didn't like it when it came out, especially compared to their previous material. Then I decided to give it back a listen after a few years and well, it's extremely rewarding! I still have a tough time ranking them. Every album has something that makes it too awesome not to be no one. I don't know any other band that I can't rank at all throughout their entire discography. It's insane. It shows you how special this band is. Cheers from France! 🍻

@@DarthWinterMadness What about Meshuggah's discography?
@DarthWinterMadness Жыл бұрын
@@haurg7418 That's why they don't really consider themselves either black or folk metal. They describe it as Epic Heathen Metal, and it works. I call them Prog Rock though... To be honest, everytime I listened to a new album of theirs, I was disappointed because it was a bit too far from the previous record (whatever order you're listening for the first time, it applies). It took me a purposeful listen without the expectation of it sounding like the other to dig it. Now about Meshuggah... Well they're great, I love them. That said I'd need to actively listen to each album to be able to tell you. For the time being, I've enjoyed every song of theirs I've heard. But I don't come back to them as often or consistently than Moonsorrow, especially going through full albums actively listening on my own. I do it with the first two Ensiferum and the first Wintersun too . Back to Meshuggah, their two live albums are amazing, these guys are incredible. It's the two "albums" I've listen to the most at this point. Now that I think about it, it's the kind of band I'd rather see live (which I did and it was awesome) than to listen to the record, as good as it it ultimately.

Good job pronouncing _haaska_ /ˈhɑːskɑ/ (audio at fi.forvo.com/search/haaska/ ), *Vin!* 👍 Both /ɑ/ vowels can be extended to /ɑː/ like you did, without confusing the listener when singing/screaming/growling, but if you do write or say _haaskaa_ /ˈhɑːskɑː/ in other context, you are then using the *partitive case* which denotes "partialness", "without result", or "without specific identity". It is also used in contexts where a subgroup is selected from a larger group, or with numbers. More at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partitive_case

The correct translation should be "you will yet end up in the swamp as well"... he says nothing about "returning"
@melzasguitar26973 жыл бұрын
Appreciate that
@GenMVeers3 жыл бұрын
Yeah... Also, the 3rd verse starts and ends with lines using 3rd person singular (literal translation): _liian kauas katseensa hamuaa_ ("too far does his gaze try to reach") [...] _suohon päätyy vielä tämäkin_ ("into a swamp will he too end up")† †) The word *_tämä_* is literally the pronoun "this" but when one needs to refer back to a 3rd person singular used earlier in the same or an earlier sentence, one can use _tämä_ instead of _hän_ ("he/she"), unless the whole point is repetition: _Hän eli. Hän joi. Hän kuoli._ ("He lived. He drank. He died.") Also, _tämä_ helps to distinguish between different persons: _Hän vetosi kuninkaaseen, mutta _*_tämä_*_ ei muuttanut mieltään._ ("He pleaded to the king, but *they* did not change their mind.")
