Glad you guys enjoyed this. 57:40 to 1:00:20 is one of my favourite pieces of music ever. The wall of sound, the vocals, just everything sounds so otherworldly. And the ending passage with the drum fills and bass line is perfection. Love how you two sometimes headbang to different rhythms and pick up on different things throughout. Great reaction to a great album 👏 (Also thats number 4 you've completed now)

OMG! 😁 GUYS! AND REMY! Thank you guys SO MUCH for doing this reaction! This was, literally, the first Moonsorrow album I heard. I got it randomly from Amazon by browsing music related to Viking metal (and I, a classical music enthusiast, was unafraid of long tracks or foreign languages), and so, by chance, I discovered my favorite band! This is, indeed, your 4th album by them, of 7 (hopefully they make more, but it's been an uncomfortable number of years). Although the riffs differ, they keep to their "leitmotifs", which is why everything sounds familiar, even if it's been transformed. In the second song, the first large section is all in 5/8, and it's amusing to see you both fail to headbang (up-and-down) to it. The rhythm is not entirely lost, as both your head-shakes (side-to-side) are pretty much right on with the slow, slow, fast, fast, [1.5, 1.5, 1, 1] feeling of this assymetrical meter. When it goes to 6/8 mid-song, all of that tension from the assymetrical meter is released which just propels you into the rest of the song, and I can see you both feeling the change. It's so easy to get lost in this music. I love the patience and slow build-ups, with ambience and acoustic breaks. This still remains one of my top albums of all time. 🤘😎

Hey Michael! Yeah they're definitely not the kind of songs you can pick up perfectly in one listen. As you and I know it just gets better the more you listen to it and get the time signatures down pat. Stoked they were happy to do it in one go ... the way it deserves to be reacted to 🤘

I remember the tour for this CD. It was in the Biebob venue (Belgium). They did 'Born of Ice' first. When that was finished, Ville announced; "And this is our last song"... And so they did 2 songs that night. They never give in to nowadays commercial nonsense... Man, they share my soul... 🤘

Almost an hour and a half of Moonsorrow!? Awesome! I love all of Moonsorrow's albums but this one is up there in my favorites, and that black metal/blast beat section (starting at 1:00:53) in "Tuleen ajettu maa" is one of my favorite parts of any Moonsorrow song. A few notes: The boingy boing instrument is a jaw harp which has been used in different forms in many different cultures throughout history, and probably originated in Asia. It's interesting that you mentioned World of Warcraft because one of the main composers/songwriters of Moonsorrow, Henri Sorvali, also known as Trollhorn, is apparently a big WoW fan and I can definitely hear the influence and inspiration in some of their songs as a WoW player and WoW soundtrack enjoyer myself. I hope you eventually finish their discography, there isn't a bad one in the bunch. There's also the EP "Tulimyrsky" which has another 30 minute epic which goes under a lot of people's radar.

Tulimyrsky will be the last song I request. I feel like it will be a perfect way to cap off the Moonsorrow journey. 🤘
