@ShonenJump411 You see, im old school, i have listened to Deiceide, canibal corpse, cradle of filth, etc.. And i have seen Moonspell since their beggining. I asked the drumer what type of metal were theirs, he told me that it wasnt a gender, it was a mix of power metal, trash and and mainly doom. At the time there wanst any shit such as goth metal. Their music as no specific gender, their music its "Moonspell"! I call it Moon Metal!

There seems to be an argument as to whether or not this is metal. In my opinion, metal has little to do with the way it sounds. What makes a song metal is the integrity behind it. I think that moonspell is very metal. Take a band like Slipknot for instance. They may have qualities that make them SOUND like metal, but there is no soul or integrity. It's just empty music used to make money. Moonspell are passionate artists, and that's what keeps them metal. Just my opinion.

Ok everyone here is right! Moonspell contains, doom, goth, black, and death. Black and death being the least of their sound because Moonspell never used blast beats until night eternal, and blasts are needed to be black or death, but I agree they have elements of both. They are not slow enough to be doom, and goth is a pretty close. The prob is they transcend genre, as all good bands do, they cannot be pegged as anyone thing, and this is the mark of the greatest bands they cant be labeled.

Yeah, it's a nice idea and all, but it's just not true. Theres plenty of metal bands that just bang out songs for the hell of it with no integrity, and theres plenty that have integrity. same for just about any other genre. Metal is defined by the musical structure of the music, types and tone of instruments used and overall feel of the music, with not all aspects needed for something to fall within the realm of metal. thus you can have music thats quite soft but still has a metal feel to it.

I disagree with your approach to metal music. Metal music is a genre, just like any other, it's not known to be characterised by any kind of superiority. There are good metal bands and bad ones. I don't like Slipknot, but they happen to be metal, even if they make music for money. Moonspell are passionate artists and that makes them passionate artists. Jazz has also passionate artists or electronica, are they metal too? :P
