100% agree. The 80s almost feels like an alternative timeline because society today doesn't feel like a continuation of that time. I lowkey feel like the emergence of grunge and and gangsta rap played a role at least among the youth because suddenly young people became jaded and disillusioned. Also, the 90s saw the emergence of Fox News and Limbaugh which ushered in extreme political division including their "culture wars". And things have really gone haywire in the social media era.

I ADORE this movie. It’s legitimately all about delivery and timing. That’s the joke, and it’s brilliant. The grandpa was the best because he was so deaf, he counted the lines being delivered and then said his. And the whole cast said he stole every scene! Lol! I love that bit “I’ll say no more.” “You haven’t said ANYTHING!!” My dad and I say that to each other ALL THE TIME!

I have to admit Cher was Superb in this movie, but Clenn close should have got the Oscar instead of her that year in fathal Attraction. But Moonstruck was a Superb film that year.

I’ll start this comment off by saying that I’m not a big fan of romantic comedies, but this is one of the few romcoms that I loved. It’s just so well-written and every character is memorable. Cher, Nicolas Cage, and Olympia Dukakis all put in great performances. I couldn’t recommend this movie highly enough.

I experienced Moonstruck as almost Shakespear-ian. Dialogs are short and impactfull, where half the dialog happens in their facial expressions + hand movements. Perfect suspence + timing. A snap shot to a time long long ago in the 1980's borough of Brooklyn NY when most of it was italian, safe to walk its streets at any time. When the Belt Parkway only had slow traffick during rush hours. Now its slow traffick 24-7. So much congestion. Several generations undet one roof and family lived nearby, a walk, bus, subway ir quick car ride. Now families dump the elderly in asst living and families live everywhere, but not near each other.

50's - 80's golden age of Hollywood imo. We still make a good one from time to time but the Japanese and Koreans are really coming up. The French have always had good ones to but they're hit and miss. Again just my opinion

This is one of my absolute favorite movies. Sure, it takes place in the '80s, but its themes have the most timeless qualities - people who hurt and are in a sense hopeless and given up on life take that chance to re-emerge and find fulfilment - at once engaging, humorous, deep and inspirational.

Excellent acting, excellent story, well crafted, entertaining film. The ending was perfect, where Danny Aiello gives his ring to his brother (Nick Cage) to give to Cher, to make his brother whole again. I watched this gem right after I suffered though 3 dreadful hours of Benjamim Button.

This movie is 1000 times subtler than most comedies now. Besides, I don't think it's over the top at all. It's a comedy and, like Bolsheviki pointed it, it's about Italian Americans. I'm not an American but I'm pretty sure they really are like that.

So many people are commenting on this movie being a romantic comedy. I don't feel like it is a romantic comedy. I see it as a family dynamic movie with little snippets of each individual in between. I think it was more about family than Cher finds a man to marry. This movie is all about family. Tiamo.
