Part one - the deep level tube trains, including some trains which will surprise anyone who did not know about them.
Also some historical information.
Video from 1990, 2011 and 2014. Plus one still image... how I wish I'd taken some more!

The class 313 was modified to operate in DOO mode later in life, though initially guards were used on the Finsbury Park to Moorgate section after DOO was introduced north of Finsbury Park. Agreement with the unions was reached, after which the class 313 had red blinds fitted as mitigation for failure of the red tail lamps. These red blinds are shown in the video.

Kevin Boyd driver protocol on GN is to use the red blinds to this day (although many can’t be bothered and most blinds have faded to white)

the 313 will be replaced by new trains similar to new thameslink trains designed to run on 3rd rail and overhead from 2018 the Northern Electrics will become part of the Thameslink new franchise, also some Kings Cross services will link via reopened tunnels to Snow Hill tunnel and go to destinations South of the river....

The mk1 1972 stock can still run on the Northern line but only during engineering hours at night as the line upgraded to automatic train operation and it doesn't allow incompatible trains to run during operational hours with the 1995 running at the same time.

Thought 1972mk1 were some converted 1967 stock for 2 man operation for the Nothern line until I found out they were the 7 car crew operated, identical looking cousins of the 1967 and 1972mk2, ordered quickly to help out the 1959 stock as there was not enough of them to run all Northern Line services back then. A small numer still operate on the Bakerloo line either mixed with the 72mk2s or as a complete train, refurbished and converted to driver only operation. No more 1959, 1972mk1, A and C Stocks, they have since been scrapped. 1995, S7 and S8 have since taken their places

The 1972 Mk1 Stock were not converted 1967 Stock from the Victoria Line, they were an extra batch constructed subsequently, as were the 1972 Mk 2 Stock, both entered service new on the Northern Line to replace some of the 1938 Stock, though the Mk2 subsequently left the Northern for work on the Bakerloo and Jubilee Lines, these days only seen on the Bakerloo.

@@etc4897 Design failure how? they did their job fine for 40 years and hardly ever broke down, and if they stink, that's down the passengers and the franchise operator not looking after them. Since Aluminium plastic and hardboard dont really smell. People just like piss and moan about no head rests or toilets on a train they rarely used for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. You spend the same amount of time on the tube or a London bus and they don't got them either. Nobody died.

Hi mate, this is a great video. I just wanted to ask you if it was okay if I include your two shots of the 1959 tube stock centenary red train in this and another video of yours in a video I am uploading of carriages from that very train that I filmed in Mangapps Railway museum. I would show your two shots then it will go into my video of the condition these two carriages are in now. I will credit you to your two videos. Cheers :)

The 1972mk1 stock is actually 8 cars just like its 1967 cousin but one DM car was taken out as Northern line platforms can only accommodate 7 cars
@CitytransportInfoplus
@CitytransportInfoplus 4 жыл бұрын
not quite, as the 3 car units of 1972 Mk1 stock also replace a trailer with an uncoupling driving motor car (UNDM) - and these do not exist on the 1967ts

You know where you said '1972 Mk1 tube stock, I think it is a Mk2 because the Bakerloo line on the underground uses the 1972 stocks with 7-cars and they were actually 1972 Mk2 stock.
@thegardener6342
@thegardener6342 8 жыл бұрын
+rescuelad4 No, they are 1972 Mark 1; the Bakerloo trains are Mark 2. As far as I am aware, they were identical technically (Mark 1s have all been withdrawn) but they could be distinguished externally because the Mark 2s had red doors whereas the Mark 1s were overall aluminium.

Reuben Ashwell I think it depends on the member of staff who is on duty. There have been times when I've had hassle but when I filmed the HD footage the man wearing the hi-viz jacket seen departing the train said that it was OK. For the older stuff I just filmed. Maybe I was just lucky to be there when the staff were occupied elsewhere. Technically if you wish to film at stations you are supposed to tell them first and you may be asked to sign in a visitors book - and out again afterwards. Note that if they tell you its illegal or anything like that then they are in the wrong, as there is no such law. Unfortunately I've come to the conclusion that many staff and security guards are badly trained or even make up the rules themselves. Moorgate can be complicated because LU staff cover most of the station whilst mainline railway staff look after platforms 9 and 10.

citytransportinfo When I planned to spent my holidays in London I exclusively read about not to film in the tube. Even the passes you could obtain (later you had to pay) are not possible anymore. Sucks.^^ Welp, I stayed at home then. Since those 2005 attacks it appears to be impossible to film with a camcorder without being super suspicous.

@thegardener6342 8 жыл бұрын
+Reuben Ashwell (The Reubster) Generally, as a keen photographer, Underground staff are OK; the issue with camcorders is that if you are filming for commercial purposes you have to have permission and many people assume that if you've got a camcorder, you are a commercial person. Best thing to do is let someone know what you're doing and they're usually OK.
