Great video, as a veteran owner of gt’s ( I’ve owned three) your experience and descriptions driving your friends was truly from the heart. I know this because my first two I owned were back in 70’s and 80’s and after almost 40 years later I purchased a 74 chrome bumper gt. Now in my mid 60’s I get the same rush that you and your friend talk about, the reliability statement is spot on. Cheers from Massachusetts

Great video, but I had to raise a smile at the "British Craftmanship" comment! These cars were thrown together like any other ordinary car of the era and finished off with the usual parts bin components. The company that made the bodyshells stacked them outside - they were rusty when they went off to assembly! (Incidentally, bodies for the Rolls Royce Shadow came from the same factory and required huge amounts of fitting work..) Everywhere you look on these cars, the fit and finish is generally poor, but it almost doesn't matter. I loved mine, it looked a million dollars, sounded it too and made you feel it behind the wheel. It's all about the smiles per mile and I think you captured that perfectly.

I enjoyed that. I agree with your views on the later rubber bumper models. I actually prefer them to the earlier chrome bumper versions. Hope you find the right car soon.

Thanks for the comment Paul. Other than the style of BGT that I drove in this video (with the recessed grille) I prefer the rubber bumper models too especially in orangey red!

Gr8 vid and tour of the countryside..,beautiful car to drive. Look forward to other vids on your new MGB and maybe include maintenance as your friend said “looking after and old lady” well done 👍

I had the opportunity to drive an MGB GT earlier this year, a late rubber bumper car as it happens. The MGB is a great looking car, especially the earlier examples.

Oh, Mr Langstaff, it has been worth the wait. It is actually really difficult to make proper sense and drive without crashing when you have a camera in the car. Many people think it looks easy, when it really is not.

Thanks for the compliment Mr Lloyd! To be honest I've got the hang of it now but when I filmed this I was very excited and I had only just thought of the name for the channel to show you how long ago it was!

@@maverick_motors_ , it's still hard even all this time I have been doing my channel. It took me six attempts recently to get my lines right of the last Very Vague Vlog, hence why it was shorter than usual as I ran out of road on my essential trip, and even then my line delivery was terrible. If you hadn't said anything at the beginning I wouldn't actually have noticed it wasn't very good anyway!

@@lloydvehicleconsulting It would've annoyed me otherwise! I do so many takes when I'm filming indoors... I did ten minutes worth of the outro as I just couldn't get it right. So I stopped filming and started again later. The first take worked perfectly in the first ten seconds...

@@maverick_motors_ , it's really strange, you are right that sometimes you can nail it immediately, and then sometimes you just can't get it together at all. I only had one essential journey that day, so I had to get it done before I got home, hence why it annoyed me so much.

I've got an MGB Roadster. Great cars. I'm really tempted to get a BGT as well, but I'm also tempted by a TD. Can't afford to run both, so I have to choose...

Nice Video, I was looking to get an MG B as my first classic however due to the prices of them i went for a Triumph Vitesse Instead :)

Thanks for the comment Joe. Both are great first classics. I guess you'll get a bit more exclusivity with the Vitesse 😉

@@maverick_motors_ its something different isn't it i suppose, very easy to work on all body panels are pretty much available and the body is just bolted onto a chassis
