Nice moose, I notice you are using a dewalt 20 volt chainsaw. I used one to cut up my moose in the field this year. I just cut the bones with it and it worked really good and fast. I have only used veg oil for the bar and no petroleum oil in it ever. Nice tool for both firewood and cutting the big bones.
@tananayuut2 жыл бұрын
Roger, next time we will. We have always used a knife to separate one rack of ribs from the vertebrae. Pretty common in the YK delta, I guess nobody around here does it like that. Will demonstrate it next time. Good to know if forget your saw or something. Definitely looking into using saw next time
@aktrapper61262 жыл бұрын
@@tananayuut I use a knife to separate the ribs from the vertebrae as well. I only used the chainsaw for cutting the leg bones, backbone and neck. It makes short work out of the big bones. I've seen people who have the luxury of hanging the whole moose use chainsaws with veg oil to split the moose in half from the tail to the head. I don't have any way to hang the whole moose so I just quarter it so I can handle the pieces in the field. I appreciate your video's and made a set of antlers out of plywood for next year after seeing how well yours worked. Awesome hunting guys.

@@aktrapper6126 Roger, I have seen that once before and it sure looks nice getting it all hung up. Right on, in the videos it doesnt seem to show how close we get. Man what a sight it is! The best moose stalk I have ever done. Hopefully I can get even closer for a bow shot. Hope your preparation for trapping goes well. TJ has already gotten a beaver with a 330
