Welcome to a brand new Best Hits video from Team
MooseMan! Before today’s story, a little explanation of how and why we schedule what we do on an ongoing basis. Our aim is to try to keep things interesting and informative. We also try to introduce older moose rut filming to our new subscribers and followers while at the same time reliving those past moose ruts with all our long time loyal fans. We have big plans for 2024! I’ll be celebrating 72nd birthday in June, and it’s boots on the ground early this year in Alaska, filming new things in summer before the rut starts. Let’s dive into to today’s video.
2021 was a challenging year for sure. This video shows you some of the best parts of that rut…all in chronological order. It started out with a bang with Mismatch (our final year with him) and Swagger. So comical to look back now at this and know that we thought Swagger was a different bull (for a few different reasons), and called him Dennis the Menace! Everybody’s in this party…Mismatch, Swagger, 22, Drop Tine, Grumpy, a young FT23, Turkey, Chill Bill, Cowboy, Slew, and even Left Hook. It’s a heck of a time, lots of bulls, and lots of unique memories. At 6:13 seconds when the snow storm hit, everything changed! From light jackets to winter coats and micro spikes!
Thanks for watching our channel, we are the husband/wife team of Rick and Libby Libbey, (Libby squared), New Hampshire wildlife photographers (and part time Alaska.) It is our passion to document wildlife of any kind, but moose are definitely at the top. In New Hampshire we spend a lot of our spring/summer hours in kayaks photographing loons and moose in the waters of New Hampshire. And hike many miles in Alaska seeking all manner of wildlife in the fall.

Great wildlife shots! Thanks for this!❤ Guys, I’m upset and brokenhearted - now baby moose calves are being born in the forests, and our temperature has sharply dropped 14 degrees below normal (32 F!), strong winds, rain and snow. The first thought is how the moose calves are doing... I hope the mother’s rich milk will help them survive. It's terrible what's happening!😮🙏💔

NOOO Lidia! this is bad!! 😮😯😥I'm so sick to hear it. Hopefully mom will delay her birthing until after the nasty drop in temps and rain and snow. Mother Nature is very upset with us and the moose are collateral damage. She means to cull the human herd. Any calf that mom can get through this is going to be one force to reckon with one day. And yay moms. These are animals built for the cold but not on their birthday! 🙏❤‍🩹💔❤

Very nice collection of all the "regulars" here. This looks like a great way of remembering these wonderful animals at their usual grounds. The moose is such a graceful animal. I would never get tired or bored just watching them in the wild like this. I know you sure love this too. It looked like "Swagger" was rather pristine at full veIvet here. I liked the "somewhat" of a confrontation between "Grumpy" and "Mismatch". We do know that these two were great pals and would've never fought one another. It saddens me that "Grumpy" is gone. The fierce battle between "22" and "Left hook" must've only taken a few minutes, but these two bulls have also gathered around each other quite frequently. It's all very nicely done here, no matter what year it is and no matter what season. I miss "22" too. The incredible world of the moose is still right before our eyes and at our fingertips.

Hey Dan, thanks for the comment and glad to see you again. We have lost a lot of bulls in the past couple of years, but we hope to see a few of the remaining regulars upon our return this fall. Left Hook would be a wonderful surprise. They had a brutal winter, we can only hope they went to higher ground where the snow blows off the mountaintops. Time will tell. Just a couple more months and we'll be back.

OK I don't know where you left off but we've lost 22, Mismatch, (Grumpy of course), Drop Tine (we haven't seen him for 2 years), Boris also has been missing for 2 years. Left Hook is getting up there and is partially blind in his right eye... Lesser knowns are Curly (lame bull bad knee), Van Gogh (missing part of his ear), Imposter (lamed during a fight and could hardly walk)...But we hope to see many of those who are remaining. Flat Top, Left Hook, Dagger, Breadstick, Turkey, Cowboy and then the youngsters. We so appreciate the time you take to comment, and for being here with us!

@@MooseManNaturePhotos I didn't know "Mismatch" was gone too. So sad. 😢 He was so precious like "Grumpy" and "22". I liked him a lot too and you've given us lots of wonderful footage of him too. Hopefully "Drop Time" and "Boris" will turn up somewhere. It's sad these animals have challenges in life, or many of them just get to a point where they begin to struggle a bit. I know "Left Hook" has always been an amazing bull moose and it seems you frequently have seen him when you were in the area. I feel bad for him. We can always remember these wonderful beasts. @@Dan.d649 Sadly our old and wounded warrior Mismatch is no longer with us, Dan. We sure hope to see Left Hook this year though. It has been a very tough last few winters and they've taken their toll. Thanks so much for being here with us for them all! ❤
