When you spray for weeds, you go down in yield, not up. The best yield is when you remove 'em with a weeder.

I'm over 75 and in my day, we utilized the term "TILL" rather than all the varous term's utilzied today when manufacture's designed, built and in order to continue bussiness, were forced to use different terminology which basically is the same as "TILLING" the soil after harvesting or before seeding. Basically depending on where you live, if it's any where above the frost line, which in the U.S.A. is pretty much the border between Mexico and the U.S.A. the ground freeze's to various depth's. In Minnesota, U.S.A. the ground can freeze down to some 6 feet deep. And in the process, it pushes various sized boulder's, rock's, and stone's up to the surface. Plowing generally has tang's that are nearly or slightly longer than one foot long. And in an area like Minnesota, one is mandated to plow, rather than what is referred to as cultivate. Cultivation basically envolves plowing to either a shallow or slightly deeper depth, but know where nearly the same as a "PLOW" does. I know of a family who farmed the same 40 acre section of land for three generation's. And though they plowed, which brought up various size boulder's, rock's and stone's every year. After three generation's meaning some 36 to 40 year's. They are still each and every year's having to remove the various boulder's, rock's and stone's the frost has manage to push up from the depth it goes. I realize and know there are area's which for one reason or another, which I'll blame on Mother Nature. Prepping a field, doesn't include having to remove boulder's, rock's and sometime even stone's. Which then a cultivator that doesn't need to go deep to till aka turn over the soil can and would be of any usefullness. We now utilize various man made fertilizer's which are considerably better and considerably easier to deal with and obtain in the quanities one may need, compared to the old day's. But then reading the ingredient's on any food product, and one can see all the various chemical's we are trying to digest every time we eat. Yes, it's a faster process, and in as much as we have considerably more thing's to do with our lives, doing thing's faster allows us to do those thing's we couldn't when the old way's took to long. You may not know or be aware that "PLOWING" because it's considerably deeper process than that of a cultivator. Mean's there will be considerably less to the point of zero reason's to use a herbicide to kill weed's that are not there when one plow's vs cultivate's. But then those that designed, build and sell cultivator's, also designed, built, and sell weeder's. It's a new world everyday, meaning yesterday is gone and to be forgotten. And when "TIME" is worth money, shortening the time, mean's more money. It is stated that only human's have a purpose. And where as the purpose of farming use to be that of growing what one needed, now envolve's growing sufficently more to obtain the thing's we want. Needing in no longer sufficent. we alway's want more. And having more, isn't sufficent, when there are those who have more than you, causing you to want even more.

Wouldn’t it be better to roll then use the stone picker?

I like to roll before I lime. Only because it makes it's easier to see the visual change on the field for my crooked AF lines.

I believe you're supposed to roll after you sow the field but before the first growth

Moose ,dont trust the help menu re roller and mulcher ,true gain is 2.5 percent but of once so if you mulch then roller doesn't get it of course it still removes small or medium stones
@fsconsultantcy25592 жыл бұрын
You should also mention that shallow cultivators or dusc Harrow dint make stones but more weeds ,also deeper cultivator and plough small stones less weeds ,also deep subsoil makes bigger stones hope this helps
@IIBuxy2 жыл бұрын
@@fsconsultantcy2559 weeds will not pop up at all if the field has been plowed
