Darren you do a fantastic job doing a running commentary in your videos! Not many pilots do this yet you thrive on it!! Thank you!

I have been trolling the net for talking while flying tips on thermalling, ridge soaring and cross country tips. Any appreciated. :)

What is your strategy Darren (if it is not a secret of course) for hydration and nutrition before launch and during a long task, to keep your energy high? Great video Darren, as usual!
@MooSurfer5 жыл бұрын
It is a secret... but just for you Sotir ;-) I always eat well before flying to give me energy. I try not to drink too much or I find myself needing the loo a lot in the air. But I do fly with a 3L hydration bladder, filled with an isotonic drink. During the flight I take little sips - it keeps me hydrated and the sweetness of the drink is like a little reward.
@sotirpopov35335 жыл бұрын
...I don't like the taste of the water from my camel bag, it taste so weird, maybe mix it with similar to your isotonic would change it. I started to realize that hydration and eating, when and how much, are crucial for a successful flight. Thanks Darren,

Do your friend make those pads? I really liked your set-up with the e-reader. Less reflexes I guess. I want the same set-up.
@MooSurfer5 жыл бұрын
Yes Robin - my friend made the instrument panel for me - with 3d printing. He doesn't make them to sell though because it is too time consuming.

@@MooSurfer Okei! :) Nice videos btw. Cool that someone do this. I get in the "zone" when I watch your videos. Your movies are a bit narcotic! :)

Nice Darren. When you get close to cloud base, do you move towards the edge of the cloud to avoid cloud suck? I haven't thermal'd yet.
@MooSurfer5 жыл бұрын
Yep that's exactly what to do. Though the stronger the thermal the earlier you need to start moving out

Noob question. What is that string that you keep pulling on with your right hand? I am interested in finding a school near me to start flying and just wanted some info on that. Thank you for the video the landscape looks incredible there I hope you enjoyed it.
@MooSurfer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lazar - that string is called the VG (Variable Geometry) system. This video explains and demonstrates how it works - kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZ-6pJqcrLabg5Y I really hope you manage to learn to fly - let me know how you get on! And yes I loved the landscape - Ager in Spain is one of my favourite places to fly.

Darren. How do you get girls to dance with you on top of mountains?
@MooSurfer5 жыл бұрын
You have to be incredibly good looking and an expert Lindi hop dancer. Just ask the legendary Tim Swait!!

I finally realized that HG magazines are officially dead. This is how to experience comps! Old media is officially dead
@PetrPolach5 жыл бұрын
Until you have someone who makes those videos... while its almost fulltime job and the effort to make them is just incredible...
@MooSurfer5 жыл бұрын
Petr is right - it is a huge effort. And I think HG magazines still have a place - I love reading articles about the comps and other events and just think videos supplement and add to them, rather than replace them.
@Vl72485 жыл бұрын
The US magazines don’t cover these comps at all! Hg is in major decline. Your approach to providing high quality content is a new avenue for younger generations to discover this sport. Younger generations do not subscribe to niche magazines.

Darren Brown Extreme Sports I'll admit I miss the competing, the coring a thermal to cloudbase, the fun /stress /anxt of finding that next thermal when the ground is getting ever closer but convenience of ppg takes a lot of beating. However I don't miss those days of sitting on take-off (that I've spent 2hrs driving to) waiting for the conditions to be "just right" 😁
