I think for how simple this pattern is, it has a great profile. The head as well as that sort of triangle shape that extends from the head to the back. Again, thanks for showing us great hopper patterns that won’t take 20 minutes to tie :D

Normally I don’t care too much for flies made up of foam and such but this little hopper looks great. Think I’ll try this one soon..... 🤞

Damn it! I made up a similar fly and I thought I was the only one who had thought of using mop for a tail on a dry fly.

Thanks for sharing. This is a really well built yet simple hopper. Usually I stay away from them because the patterns are complicated and take too much time. I make a seriously detailed cricket and I think this pattern would adapt well and make a great, much simpler cricket as well. All the best, Sean

I caught about a mixture of a dozen bluegill and bass in about half an hour with this fly. Sadly they were all tiny and couldn’t keep but still a killer hopper pattern.

Awesome looking fly! What brand of rubber leg material is that? A lot I've seen have all the strands separated which i guess wouldn't be as good for the back legs?

Hello there, awesome videos. My son is very interested in making fly tying videos. We are having a hard time capturing the process on video. Do you have any tips to help a beginner with minimal equipment to make fly tying videos? We do not own a macro lens... Is that a necessity?

It looks like it will twist badly in casting though, have you had any trouble?

Have not had any twisting problems. But, like most big foamy flies, I can't say that it's a pleasure to cast.

Innovative and awesome, just not a fan of flies that require another product to make them fishable. Unless you apply floatant to that mop while dry, that fly is going to sink like a stone. Id much prefer a foam or furry foam body

The wonderful thing about the mop fiber is its ability to both soak up liquid (water or floatant) and also how easily liquid can be squeezed out of it. When the mop part of the fly does get saturated with water, like after catching a fish, all I do is give it a good healthy squeeze to remove nearly all the water then once again saturate it with floatant. It is kinda the whole premise of the fly.
