Everything about this car is incredibly cool, except for the hood scoops -- which are easily enough removed and not a deal breaker. I'd drive this car every day. Awesome

I take it that this New Yorker originally came with a 727 Torqueflite. I was under the impression that the last of the manual gearbox Chryslers was the base Newport, only, and that with the 3-speed "on the tree" with either the 360 LA engine, as of 1971, or the 383 (until 1971) or the 400 (1971 only), either with the 2 barrel carb. I believe that when Chrysler restyled the "B" and "C" bodies extensively in 1972, all "C" bodies were automatic only.

I always wanted to know what a big car like that feels like with a manual transmission. I like big cars but I hate autos, so now I have a better idea. Cheerz

OMG I had one of these back in the day and to see one with a 4 speed blows my mind. I got it for 200 bucks as it had a electrical fire under the dash and it was only 4 years old. Replaced the entire dash and wires from a wrecked one. Never have I seen more wires in a car than this one.

This is a really sweet luxury/muscle car. The best of both worlds.Nice plush interior with A/C too, probably power everything, and best of all a 440-4 speed combo and a 3.54 rear axle...which gives it a good blend of acceleration and top end. I assume the 440 is hot rodded a bit because of the 10:1 compression ratio. A stock 440 in 1976 would've had a compression ratio in the 8s. Awesome car man

Ok, I know my Mopars as well as anyone..... I'd have to see the build sheet for this boat before I'd ever consider this being a factory 4 spd. That being said, EXTREMELY COOL & VERY NICE !!!!!

Rare Gem to See a 4 Speed Hurst Manual. I had a 71 Chrysler 300 Hurst with a 727 Automatic. Had a 383 V8. I Traded that Car for 91 Ford Crown Victoria with the Built 351 Cleveland V8. Still have that Car. It was a Former Cleveland Police Department No Rust I put in Led Headlights back in 2009 and Rebuilt the 4 Speed Automatic and Put In a 5 Speed Automatic with a Torque Shifter. For Better Ride.

Hello there! I have to say that’s an amazing big old MOPAR! Coming from a guy that grew up with a wonderful father that had some really beautiful Chrysler’s. The ones I remember are a 59 New Yorker my dad owned new till he traded it for a real amazing 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe, he order special loaded out with optional back then, even in a two door Imperial Chrysler Tempatrol automatic climate control, with a 413 Imperial Wedge, that had a rectangular steering wheel that looked kinda aeronauticalthat was also clear on the top rung and the color of the interior at the hub and bottom rung, along with push button shifting! With med blue leather and metallic exterior, with a special textured vinyl top. With so much chrome all in ver in an out! That car was also fast! But also whisper quiet! With dual exhaust with big pipes and huge mufflers and resonators. I remember down at the beach house when my uncles and older cousins came down we would all go see who had the fastest car! The fastest overall was the Imperial, once it got moving it passed all the others on this long straight road called the escape road, built after the hurricane of 59, in Galilee R. I. The quickest-was my cousins 1966 GTO, plus his dad, my uncle has a mean Chrysler 300! Those were the days! Of .25-.30 cent high test Sunoco 260! With big powerful cars. By 1968, after my four sibling was born my dad had to trade his beloved Imperial in on a real beast, a 1968 Chrysler Town & Country Beach Wagon, he ordered with a 440 Commando 4 brl Dual exhaust with factory tow package that came with a hd hitch and plug, with bigger leaf springs air shocks and torsion bars, with front disk brakes! Plus a 3:55 Limited slip rear end! That was the first car I legally drove with a license! The next car he bought was used from his mother, seeing as how every two years my Grandmother who was the starter of the family trucking company, would buy a new Thunderbird 4 door, that had suicide rear doors! But most importantly came with the 429 Thunderjet engine! In all black with leather and an Alligator vinyl top! That was a beautiful car! After that, starting in 1971, my dad was able to buy a new Lincoln every 2-3 years till the last in 1978.

I have owned and saw many New Yorker's but I have never once seen a 4 speed manual trans in one that is different that is a cool car with it being a 2 door with the 4 gear I would get rid of those hood scoops though
@tonytrotta93225 жыл бұрын
FYI: The hood scoops were made by Woodall Industries - LOF Plastics in Detroit, Michigan where my dad worked. They are for a Plymouth -or- Dodge and are high dollar items at swap meets today. Take care!

1976 Chrysler NewYorker is now the top of the line for Chrysler Corporation. It used to be the Chrysler Imperial. Imperial was a separate make from 1955 to 1970 as of luxury car for a Chrysler line up. I like the big fender skirts on Chrysler cars from 1974-1978, it is standard on 1974 and 1975 Chrysler Imperial, it is also standard on 1974-1978 New Yorker, but it is optional on the low priced Newport for 1974-1978.
@jtp5856 жыл бұрын
Despite being labeled as the ``Imperial LeBaron by Chrysler`` it still was its own make all the way to 1975.The fender skirts were made optional even on the NYB for 78 and you were not able to get one of them after 74 as anything lesser than a Brougham before the C-bodies were replaced with R-bodies in 79 when the ``Brougham`` got its turn to get discontinued.

Magnificent huge hot Rod Chrysler! With a 440/4 brl Commando Engine with dual exhaust and hopefully something like at least a3:08 Posi. Plus LOOSE the fake hood scoops! But I sorry I commented before watching the video. Also that squeaking clutch pedal? Needs some One Lube! But still even with the fake boi racer hood scoops, it’s still a magnificent big MOPAR, I’m sure capable of high speed runs that might just break the 85 mph speedo! We had a 68 Chrysler Town&Country Beach Wagon, my Dad ordered special when forced to trade his beloved 64 Imperial Crown Coupe in, after Mom told him she was expecting my third of five total siblings. The car had a screaming 440/4 brl dual exhaust, with factory towing package, including a 3:55 posi for the family boat an travel trailer, Dad could tow with effortlessly! As the oldest of six, I took my drivers road test in, back in 1972. Then after my Honorable Discharge from The U.S.Army, in April 76, Dad had by then bought Mom a newer wagon, but let my brothers and sisters learn in the big Chrysler. But when I came home without a car? Dad never hesitated to lend me the big Chrysler for a daily driver, till I could find a nice used Scout II. I have to say that big Chrysler was a fast highway cruiser! On more than one occasion I had the 120 mph horizontal speedometer not just buried, but the needle past the end of the Speedo, all the way through the clock to 3 o’clock!! The engine was screaming, the doors sounded like they were gonna get sucked right off! All while burning 1/8th a gas tank in about 1 mile!!! That car ran like a champ for 18 grueling years and 154,000 miles before Dad sold it! The only problem we ever had? Was freeze plugs rotting/leaking! But everything else was trouble free except rubber parts and brake shoes/drums, as the car was just too heavy an fast. That was actually the best 2wheel rear wheel drive vehicle I’ve ever driven in the snow! Especially when tires chains were added! But were a major P I T A to put on, even when the fender skirts were removed! But what a beautiful big car an luxurious ride/handling! It was metallic maroon, with chrome roof rack and handles on each side of the power rear window, wood grained sides with dark red leather three road interior, loaded with power everything and climate control. I know Dad paid well over $5,500 brand new in 68!

Straight duels do not have "H" pipes in them. They are : manifolds and pipe that is without mufflers of any kind at least 60"long. No bends except to come from the manifold down to under the floor. And NO H PIPE. I ran that setup on my 66 GTO until I traded it in.

This one did not have any cats on it when I got it. I know that the low compression they came with sure made them slow compared to the ones in the 60's. I did own a 77 NYB with a factory towing installed and it had a 440 with no air. And 77 was the last yr for the 440

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(((
