I remember my dad taking a 1969 Dodge Monaco to the local garage to get the oil changed. The mechanic banged his head on that widowmaker hood hook...should heard the language! From that point on, he jammed an empty oil can over it. It was the first think he did after opening the hood. Just heading outside to replace the valve cover gaskets on a '67 New Yorker...cheers!

I would suggest running a dual snorkel air cleaner with the lid on properly and then run the black accordion style air ducting to the air cleaner snorkels for a dense cold air intake charge. By flipping the air cleaner all you're doing is pulling in all the heat off the manifolds and that's going to cost you power not to mention vapor lock

Cam carb compression CCC should all match up as these cars are meant to run anyway at 14.0 to 14.4 afr. You can simply reject or retune a two barrel and not have to worry about secondaries throw a mild cam at it and make more power without changing the intake in the carb. All four barrel guys run around mostly on two barrels anyway. Just a thought... Unless your foot's going to be to the floor almost all the time then a four barrel is a waste of time. Do a barrel Port match the stock intake clean up the ports on the heads put some long tube headers on make more power while conserving fuel as best you can. In other words go OEM plus efficient and it'll still have a nice dual exhaust sound out the back even better with a set of two chamber flowmasters... Even six pack 440s run around on two barrels all day long

Two barrels can be rejected or you can buy small drill bits Mic out the width of the drill bit with a micrometer and simply drill out the stock Jets and bring them up a size one at a time adjust your air fuel ratio and check the temperature with a infrared temp sensor and check each plenum coming out of the head on the manifold to make sure that each cylinder is burning at the right temperature too hot it's running too lean too cold it's running too fat... Tuning with manifold vacuum 16 to 20 hg. And really tune it in good. You can also get an o2 sensors put in the stock manifolds or downpipes on each side and tune the carburetor with that and an air fuel ratio electronic gauge to get it tuned in good without a computer... Or an EGT gauge on each side there's several ways to do this

If that car starts up cold you should see little to no smoke from running rich at startup then you should see white vapor on a cool day not black or even light black and then the white vapor should disappear to clear.... If you rub the engine and you're seeing black or light black exhaust it's running too fat

The amount of carburetor that's on that engine... Whether 383 2 barrel 383 4 barrel 440 2 barrel 400 2 barrel 440 4 barrel... All depends on the vacuum of the engine and the cam that is in it. If it's a 383 two barrel then it is designed to run a a two barrel so the air fuel ratio is close to 14.0 to 14.4. By running too much carburetor... You lose vacuum and lower horsepower because there isn't enough suction from the engine to itemize the air fuel ratio properly. Just want your carburetion and cam
