I've been rebuilding Thermo Quads since 1971! The 71 340 has smaller primary throttle blades in has the screw in jets like most Competition Series. It was rated 750 cfm I believe. I also have a 1,000 cfm Competition Series too. In 1972 they switched to the solid fuel type with the o-rings in the bottom of the fuel bowl. I rebuilt my last one in 1985 and still running strong. I prefer the early models without the O-rings. The Super Stock guys like the O-ring models. I think they eliminated the metering rod springs? Quite a difference between the two styles.

I saw the carter carbs book I said I want one, got one off E bay ordered, 25 bucks plus shipping! I have one on a 440 and one on a 318. Hope to learn something. On to part 2.

hello, what size is your socket to remove chocke plate? it seems that 4.5mm is too small but 5 mm is too loose

Hey, thank you very much for watching the video and thank you very much for your comments. Really appreciate it. As for the size of the bolts that holds on the choke plate, those are 3/16 of an inch. They're not metric. You have to use 3/16 these carburetors were conceived long before anybody in America was even thinking about the metric system

@@slantfish65sd Thank you. I've supposed that it could be 3/16 but it seems that our chinese friends are too lazy to measure 3/16 properly, and cheap sockets are still too loose, darn )
