Thank you for reviewing that knife Joe. I love my Mora HD Companion. What an awesome test! That was some serious flexing in the timber. That took a lot of abuse before it broke. After seeing your Cold Steel SR-1 video, I ordered one but cancelled it as I’m unsure. Which do you think is better….the SR-1 or Scout 4 Max? (I know you’ve reviewed them both) There’s a $50 price difference between the two, the Scout is $125, the SR-1 is $75. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Hultafors holds up.

Even broken like that will be useful in garage or workshop. It will be easy to grind down one side of the broken tip to make a chisel, or grind spine to make a tip. I also recommend technique of thumb tuck when stabbing hard material. Thgumb goes over the end of the handle and index finger goes over thgumb pressing it. It's a grip used often in pullups and dead lift, I recommend it a lot when you think knife might slip.

Hey Joe! Keeping safe I hope. These Companions are for me the best outdoor knives. Safe, handy and reliable. This was stainless steel. So how would the Morakniv Companion HD in carbon steel hold up? Have you already done this? In my experience carbon steel flexes more. It can really bend and retain its shape once the stresses are removed. Stainless steel is possibly stronger, depending on type, but more rigid. This is Sandvik steel I think. Very high quality. I know them as a company and they are great. Boing! Snap! @7:35 what a champ! 🏆

Here is a list of knives to be tested: Ka-Bar Baconmaker Cold Steel La Fontaine Thrower These two knives are somewhat similar and I wonder which one is stronger especially in the tip area. BTW. Good job man - its worth knowing what words of knife companies are really worth and it is also good because you are pushing them to become more competitive by saving our money on their marketing lies.
@joex2 жыл бұрын
you are funny, hahaha!!!
@orle.2 жыл бұрын
@@joex Well funny or not Ka-Bar Baconmaker costs ca. 100 euros and La CS La Fontaine thrower -ca. 15-20 euro .... I bet LF is better. The same goes for knives of other companies. People spend millions on various knives only to discover that their performance in real life is not as promised by the marketing lies of their makers and that one does not need to spend 100 euro to have a well performing knife (not only in regard to CS/LF and KB/BM). So what is necessary is what you do - concentrating longer time of a knife use into a short period of time - if and how it breaks defines the quality. For instance Cold Steel GI Tanto is a good knife EXCEPT the ... TIP - who wants to spend even 20-30 euro on a knife that will loose its tip after just one visit to the forest ... Even though this has been shown on large number of YT videos - people still fall into this marketing trap and purchase a knife that will loose its tip within 1 hour of forest heavy use, what a knife of this type is supposed to do. In summary - by showing again that GI Tanto may loose its tip so quickly - you spare many people unnecessary expenditure or contribute to bringing an end in this case to Cold Steel practice of stealing money from the people by eventually improving the design of GI Tanto so that the tip stays attached hence ... good work.
