People talk about Mora like he was a loon cause of rants like this. But the guy was passionate about winning. He took the Saints and Colts, both perennial losers, and turned both programs around. As a Saints fan, I watched 20 years of sub .500 football, and in the year above, the Saints went 12-3 to get over .500 for the first time ever. It was a better record than any other team in the league, except for San Francisco who went 13-2. Unfortunately, we were in the same division. And trust me, it really sucks when you go 12-3 and don't even win your division. LOL And if you just listen to that rant, you'd think we got our butts handed to us in that game, but the score was 24-22 and we lost because we missed a last second field goal. And he was pissed about it. He'll always be a hero to me. (hmmm, now I got to go look up why they only played 15 games in '87. Was it a strike year? I don't remember.)

Every year the Saints would draft 5-6 db's 3-4 linebackers and at most 1-2 offensive guys. Try beating Taylor, Rice, Jones, and Rathman with just defense and see where you land. The defense was OK when they weren't tired from being run all over the field for 55 minutes a game. Oh, and their OC should've been gone after the 3rd or 4th 75-yard game.

The Saints only lost by 3 points, but it was to a division rival Super Bowl Champion. Back then, the lowly Saints and Falcons were in the same division with the 49ers and Rams. There was no Buccaneers or Panthers yet. Saints had to play Joe Montana's 49ers and the Rams twice a year. They were the number one seed one year going 12-4 but after a first round bye the Vikings embarrassed the Saints.

@blackandgold51 Even though we lost to the Vikings in the wildcard during the 1987 regular and lost to them in the divisional round during the 2000 regular season, we pay them back by beating them in the NFC Championship game during the 2009-10 regular season. But we are waitng for the payback againts the Bears and the Falcons in the play-offs.We are 0-2 against the Bears and 0-1 againts the Falcons.
