Moraito is one of my biggest influences, and one of the reasons I started learning flamenco over 20 years ago. His mastery of tempo and his aggressive style set him apart. Nobody sounds like Moraito except Moraito haha

This is my favorite bulerias of all time. I can't help but smiling and swinging to the music. And the instrument you are referring to is called a udu. 😃

I love absolutely Moraíto! You won´t find here the virtuosity of Paco de Lucía,but I´m glad you realized how Moraito uses time and feeling. He´s a master on that and you can see the effects he´s delay and swing causes in the handclappers. That´s why he was highly rated among flamenco singers. His ability to listen to the singer and interact with him or her was great.Check for some of his music accompanying singers José Mercé or Agujetas. His son Diego del Morao carries the torch now.

Great video! In case anyone is interested, Bulerías is the name of what we call a "palo". Palos are different styles of flamenco, each of them with its own sound, rhythm, rules... So normally flamenco artists say which palo are they going to play, and that's all you know about what they are going to do. There are other palos apart from Bulerías, but it is one of the most popular, specially in the place where Moraíto is from: Jerez

Yeah such a beautiful piece and a good example of why I used the snowflake analogy being no two are alike! It may be a little hard to understand the meaning for outsiders at first but once you start to learn the language or languages of the music it all comes together! I have really been enjoying learning about all these incredible artists and I am looking forward to learning all I can!!!

@@TheKillogicEffect The buleria from Jerez has a special "funky" feel and Moraito was the king. Comparing Paco or Vicente to Moraito is a bit like comparing a blues guy to a jazz guy - part of the same thing but with a different emphasis.

Because in the Flamenco there is a general structure, but inside of it the artist can do all he/she wants that it´s inspiring him/her in that moment (improvising). Then surge very different things in each actuation (each actuation is magically unique). Regards.

He was one of the great ones for sure , and this video is one fantastic example, besides virtuosity boast with happiness and mischievousness that you can see in his eyes and smile . Paco is forever #1 , there are lots others flamenco behemoths tied for second place 100s, , all the talk cheering in the back is enticing the player how well is doing , and he replies how ??? here take more of this and more that and some to go , lol

@@TheKillogicEffectkeep up the great work , on a different note , my guitar teacher Ruben Diaz was one of the few privileged to learn from Paco directly , his channel has more that 2500 vids all in English. And another different note , have you heard of “ El Estepario Siberiano “ lol this mofo is the sickest drummer ever IMO also a fellow Spaniard .

The buleria is a very strict rhythm, like all flamenco forms, but it can be difficult to follow at first when you don't know it. It is a poly-rhythm essentially, and can change form at the will of the guitarist, but it must always follow a strict pattern of accents. It becomes more impressive the more you learn, as their mastery becomes more apparent.

I love the fact that "palos" in flamenco (as they call the different rhythms) are mostly named after the moods and the different styles upon the place that where it comes from. E.g.: "por soleá" means something like loneliness, "por bulerías" like a party, there is even "por libre" that means something like freestyling... so on and so forth. I got into guitar because of the "duende", as they call the spirit that possesses the whole ambiance in a flamenco performance. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palo_(flamenco)
