Shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister Jacinta Price has continued to call for NT Deputy Chief Minister Chansey Paech to resign following revelations he held shares in an alcohol distribution company.
On Tuesday, the Northern Territory independent revealed Mr Paech, who drove the government’s decision to lift alcohol bans in Alice Springs, had shared in Metcash - a company that distributes alcohol in Alice Springs.
"He's morally bankrupt," Ms Price told Sky News Australia.
"Evidently, he purchased those shares two months prior to arguing to lift the alcohol restrictions … that has a direct relationship to that decision-making.
"The lifting of those alcohol bans, I mean, that created absolute destruction in our communities, and I can't believe just how disgraceful his actions and his behaviour are as he's now trying to hold on to his job."
