MORBARK 3400 GRINDING CEDAR TOPS

HEY! so on this job they wanted all the tops removed from the woods to make it look nicer cause they still use the bush for recreation.
this morbark grinder is a beast! even tho it is on of the smaller ones. its powered by a cat diesel engine that is around the 800hp mark. it made short work of all our tops.

For us Soft Maple and Cherry make the best consumer Mulch. But we are not doing bulk wholesale volume any more, so we can be choosy.

Good day Kev. Wow that feeds threw quick. Does that mulch weigh fairly heavy or more bulk? That mulch must cost a fair bit to make up for machines. Boy young fellow ca skate pretty good. Thanks

The cedar is pretty light and will be kinda "fluffy" ya its not cheap to run those machines but can put alot of material fast

Morbark 3400 won’t take time to do cedar kev if it’s 600 horsepower on it . Cedar a soft wood 🪵 fast as fast you can feed it , no break for the operator keep the TIM HORTON to him . 😊

You can control infeed speed but if it will take it then feed it

@@SkidderKev The human body can feed on that stuff but it is not the right fuel. When you run out of people nothing will happen. I know it is a hammer mill. I am pretty sure you can put the in-feed into a slower gear. That would reduce the load on the engine which could which is not necessarily a bad thing to do. Then you could experiment with reducing the engine RPM to reduce the stress on the engine. If the operator of the loader is feeling like he is being rushed, that is more stress on him. I realize that if the engine RPMs are too low that will put more stress on the engine and could cause a stalling and a plug up. 1700 RPM might be okay. 1000 RPM is a fast idle, not enough. I don't know whether the governor for the in-feed would work with reduced RPM. We might be running out of workers so we need to take care of them. If a trucking company is having a lot of wrecks, what does that tell you? They are pushing their drivers too hard.

How many yards did your piles yield?

They will likely count the trucks to haul it. If they get someone up inside the truck box to push it down that would make a big difference. Put both feet together and bounce on it. That could save getting another truck.

I don't really have a yard amount but it's looking like it will be around 16 53foot walking floors worth
