I do hope they will play some older songs after the album comes out. When Pantera invited Morbid Angel on tour with them like 17 years ago (Tucker was in the band then), they played Day of Suffering...with Phil on vocals. While Morbid Angel were setting up, I was standing in the pit, hearing comments like "I'm staying the hell out of this pit". I love what Anselmo did--he introduced fans of an extreme band (Pantera) to a much more extreme band.

I said it once, I will say it again: Steve's case is the perfect example of when a hired cat outperform the founding frontman. I love formulas fatal to the flesh and gateways to annihilation. Steve's growling and presence are perfect. These two albums (FFTF and GTA) are such a fine brutal mystic sonic experience. One would burn incense and meditate while listening to Prayer of Hatred ! This was a great show! They played only Gateways, Formulas and Heretic. I cana't believe it so fucking awesome, like a 20 year reunion to Formulas and original Steve Tucker. Best fucking show ever that I had to miss but thanks it was here on youtube. That new drummer, sorry I don't know your name but you are great. Did a good job covering Pete's stuff, and you did really great and have great posture and just did a perfect job basically. Thanks for that. By Prayer Of Hatred I was fucking impressed, and they just kept rolling with all the best stuff from those albums. A GREAT WAY TO CLEANSE the weirdness of the other god D. Vincent but seriously David, you come and go that's fine. But MORBID ANGEL had an excellent evolution with Formulas thru Heretic and that's obviously it for Pete. Legendary stuff, thanks new guys. The last album was so horrible, but this stuff seems to be a return to the REAL Morbid Angel. and good to see they are doing more 7-string stuff too - Trey is in the top 3 of my all-time favorite influential & inspirational guitarists (along with Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer & Buckethead.) looks like I am gonna have to track down some new Morbid Angel stuff to grind to!!!

Still so good.. my band opened for them in 2000 in Toronto. Steve Tucker hosted us on their bus. Friendly social guy. Trey was off on his own at some coffee shop during the day but then let us pick his brain later. Pete was talking about his other jazz band. Good times.

Awesome that Steve is back, but I wish Erik Rutan could have come back on guitar, too. Also, while it's killer to hear lots of Formulas/Gateways material in the set, they need to thrown in at least ONE track from A, B, C, and D. I know Steve's comfort zone is obviously the albums he's played on, but they used to do Vincent-era songs in previous sets with Steve in the lineup.

It was mostly a warm up tour, and both Trey and Steve said they wanted to play mostly songs he hadn't played in a long time (mostly, of the Tucker albums, because Vincent could not sing those ones without butchering them). After that, they made a tour of the standard setlist with some additions of all seven albums (no, that thing with the I does not count) and now, they are touring mainly with the Kingdoms songs as the bulk of the set.
