The slow grinding, chorus riff juxtaposed over that blazing fast double bass drumming is really something special here

@@premium3429really? I thought he was the innovator of 260-280 bpm double bass in modern death metal, that's a shame.
@premium3429Ай бұрын
@@mattweismiller Sandoval is an innovator in deathmetal, no doubt! One of the godfathers and pioneers of blastbeasts and extreme speeds on kickdrums, yes, but that part was programmed. Some parts were just done in the studio. Takes nothing away from him though. Just go check his work in formulas fatal, there he's 100% raw and the speeds are nothing like that. Also theres no footage of him live hitting those speeds like in this song. This speed would even be challenging to the modern greats like, longstreth, diepold, paradis, archey etc in singles, they'd mostly do that in doubles nowadays.

I read this drummer, Pete Sandoval, redefined metal drumming forever. He was the first to take the concept of the blast beat ( which was just super fast single strokes on the snare, bass D. + cymbals) and actually put its concept into a timee signature. And other time signatures he could actuals use as beats and to metronome time. It was no longer just limited to extreme noise for music sake😉 . he changed metal forevever. one of the true legends. To a great man and a great drummer. To pete sandoval 🤘 the highest of horns
