Thank you! I want to say something corny like "go with your heart" but I doubt that would help you much in the long run lol. I looked up color theory a little while back and I felt like it helped my color choices a LOT. My favorite theory videos, if you're not in the mood to read, are made by Flow Studio, GinjaNinjaOwO and pikat! Pikat and GinjaNinjaOwO's are newer, but I like to look into color theory from time to time to help myself remember and learn things better. Also, the colors I chose for this image are along the "analogous" type that gets talked about on the color wheel! My palette here also has a very dark blue, almost black, and a very dark purple around the base colors and all my colors hue shift into that range one way or another. There are other ways to build a pixel palette but that's how this one works! If you're not sure what you want to do with colors right away, too, you can find some wonderful color palettes made by other artists on Lospec.com you can try!

Solid video. I could see these characters in a GameBoy release. With experimentation, a version of the boxer with wider shoulders/narrower bottom and the chef with a narrower shoulders/wider bottom might be possible... Thanks for the inspiration!

You're welcome! Pushing the features into a more cartoon-like look would do WONDERS for the character design! I hope you have a great time with it!

These are so cool! I love how you can make your pixel people so vibrant and unique in such a tiny frame! Do you have any advice if someone wanted to draw a masculine presenting pixel character with long hair without them looking too "feminine"? 🤔💜

At this size, maybe even at 32x32 twice the size of this, it may be hard to tell no matter what you do! One option would be to leave them shirtless, but otherwise I think the best course of action would be to tell the viewer or player that your character is male despite the sprite appearance. However, looking at Final Fantasy 6 sprites, Setzer and Edgar specifically, they did manage to give them bigger shoulders than Terra/Tina! So that might also help!

@MomentaryUnicorn Thank you! That's good advice. 💜

I second @MomentaryUnicorn advice and would add that The Spriter's Resource website is a wonderful, um, resource for sprite analysis as well as Brandon James Greer's KZbin channel.
