Getting started on my first indie game using the game dev platform Godot. I'm using Libre Sprite right now for art (but I might switch later). Trying to bring my Vampire Janitor concept to life.
Game devlog #1! Lots of mistakes and time figuring things out.

I always love to watch the first moments of a project before it baloons into something incomprehensible if you havent built it yourself. Keep at it fam, if you're from CS you'll take to gamedev like a fish to water

That's the thing, right? The beginning of projects are always exciting, it's the finishing part that's tough!

Hey man, I may be wrong so forgive me if so but I think the reason your torch is blurry is because of your rendering settings which are trying to smooth out the pixels. In Godot you want to go to Settings > Rendering > Textures and then set the "Default Texture Filter" to "nearest". That should stop it being blurry. However that may not work with the Gdquest assets you've got as they are not pixel art.

click "project" button top left in godot, then click "project settings" then in "rendering" click "textures" and change "default texture filter" from linear to nearest, this will stop godot from blurring your pixel art

Good start mate. i'd suggest giving video's a quick levelling so the audio in e.g. music isn't too loud vs the voice - and it sounds like the laptop microphone here and there, 3 buck budget corded phone earbuds will sound nicer but oh well. for the coding part just keep going of course. you're right often the art and assets will take up huge chunks of the time - you can of course use placeholders to speed things up a bit but i'd steer away from upscaling specific 16x16 pixels especially at odd ranges of e.g. 50x20 . it'll be much better to have an e.g. 128x128 as well as a 16x16 and etc and downscale the 128 if and where needed.. also it might give a taste for thinking about people with different resolutions - widescreens etc but then again you could expand that to people with color blindness / auditory processing issues etc. nitpicking aside. keep it up

Appreciate the tips! Hadn’t even thought about different screen resolutions yet :/ Getting the audio level has been its own thing-probably just need to download premiere pro or something again.
