I live in Ct.Had a lone adult black bear visit.Took a tour of our outside and then ran into our woods.Beautiful !

My first ever bear encounter after 84 years in central Mass. June 2020, In my outside workshop and "BRUNO" walked within 8 feet of me. Not sure if he saw me, but I sure saw him up close. A beautiful animal and appeared very calm as he strolled by. I never felt threatened. Thankyou Penn. Rangers for such a wonderful video.

It's better than us not knowing what's happening to their population to maintain their ecosystem. If we didn't have the tags people would just hunt them whenever wherever and that would be a problem

Explaining all the things that they are involved in during the course of their years in life Time, getting up close and personal. Black bears fascinate me. They almost remind me of an oversized Black Labrador combined with a racoon. Although Ive never seen one in the wild (not super prominent here), I nevertheless remain astonished at the intelligence you can see lying behind their eyes. I know there are exceptions but, everything I read about them seems to showcase a reasonable level of aggression considering how dangerous they could potential be. I understand that they are a bit of a nuisance in areas where bear and human share the land. Nevertheless I wish to see one in person one day. I just hope its not a mother with cubs. Documentaries like this are awesome since I can see them and learn without having to do the work myself. This one is nice and long too. Thanks for uploading. 👍👍

Seeing a mother with her cubs is amazing. And not dangerous as long as you keep your distance and stay aware of your surroundings. Don’t get between the mother and the cubs, and don’t do anything sudden to frighten them, and absolutely never feed them. I don’t know where you are, but black bears are abundant in the forests of the eastern US, Midwest, and in Canada everywhere from Manitoba to the east. Back when I’d go camping I’d see them all the time in Ontario in many of the provincial parks… and they’d love going into peoples campsites who were foolish and forgot to lock up their food overnight. When I was really young, my aunt would take me to the dump in Muskoka at dusk, where locals would sit in their cars and watch the bears come out to scavenge for food. Ona good night you could see a dozen or so bears rummaging around the freshly dumped compost bins looking for snacks. The county does a much better job keeping the bears out of there though, because it’s really not good for them, or the people… still it was a lot of fun as a kid seeing them.

Very interesting documentary on the life of bears. One word of caution, never, ever approach a den that is occupied, as shown in this movie, as there is a high probability of attack, in most cases. And certainly in the western states, this could mean a gruesome death.

Cathy thanks for a very important learn, bears are not apt in sharing their young unless it's not natural. This tells me the bears have trust in particular humans with a gentle hands. Your work is highly needed not just for the bears but for everyone to be educated, you may live in bear country. Thanks for the video I enjoy looking at bears.

Bears are very intelligent, the smarted land mammal there is, with the reasoning power of a six year old. The problem is not too many bears, it is to many people, would you recommend we start hunting children? Stop killing wolves and coyaotes, nature will look after the population of bears.

I live in Northern Ontario, Canada. .. way too many bears around here. People see them as potentially dangerous pests. The spring bear hunt was reinstated a few years back just to control the population. In fact you can get 2 tags for bear....

Gary is sadly misinformed when stating that black bears exist in North America, but does not indicate that they are at home on Vancouver Island. Canada is part of North America. He mentioned Mexico. He mentioned 3 types of bears native to North America, brown, black and polar. Is he not aware of the grizzly bear?
