I got stranded 16 miles in the woods hunting with a whitetail freshly gutted and my 2009 Honda rancher(1 year old at the time) transmission completely stopped working. Hondas have know transmission problems for over 10 years now on their quads. Now mind you at my house, we keep our vehicles in top notch condition. Moral of the story there is NO perfect machine. And even the legendary Hondas can still have problems that can leave you stranded from factory. No machine is perfect. I have a 2001 crappy polaris sportsman’s that couldn’t have been abused more and it’s STILL RUNNING. If I listened to what everyone says on the internet, my Polaris shouldn’t have been reliable enough to make it out the showroom floor.

@@Lalaafastroli Well true, they all can have problems at times, but there isn’t much chance of me buying a Polaris not by a long shot. Your situation would be extremely rare. What specifically was wrong with the transmission ? Was it a foot shift, ES, Automatic ?

Here is a video of a 2009 model, the guy in this video claims the electric motor failed at one point, but he was able to shift it with the backup manual level. I don’t recall any accounts of any transmission complete failures in over 30yrs. The only issues I am aware of are, the ES issues, and eventually the failure of the electric motor at high mileage, which isn’t difficult to replace once it gets to that point, but you still should have the backup option. The other was with the earlier model DCT automatics that had a tendency to overheat due to the programing, and could cause mechanical problems or failure due to overheating, that issue was addressed in the newer DCT models, Honda had the same issue in their earlier model DCT automobiles as well, due to how the program works. I optioned for the foot shift to eliminate both the ES issues, and any potential DCT issues, though it’s not likely there would be any issues with the 2025’s regarding the DCT. The only other issues I am aware of regarding transmission issues would be based on rider input. The video kzbin.info/www/bejne/ioW0iY14ps-cpcUsi=FRGXlEWPnUKi7LaY

@@TiffanyBottomsHunterI took it to my local Honda dealer…apparently it had a problem with the “electronic shifting shaft” or some gears were faulty by the factory. Either way it was covered under warranty. I’ll like to add I owned 4 Honda dirt bikes and 2 street bikes with zero issues. I think hondamatic transmissions have more problems than you think, just look at the Honda forums

Three of the main reasons that Honda has such reliable engines, and machines are these. Quality Engineering, Quality Manufacturing Processes, Thorough Quality Control. Another major contributor is Thorough Testing . These are how reputable manufacturers establish quality such as Toyota, Cummins, Honda, Yamaha, Kubota, etc
