You could make an orchard in your old garden. A couple of fruit trees would make like sweet.

For the in ground area you could do herbs or cut flowers so the space is still being used but is more hands off.

LOL I got a text from Epic Gardening while I was watching this video. I'm doing all raised beds. I love it!

Hi Jill, I want to order 3 birdies raised beds for myself. Can you please explain to me the reason you chose the short bed and not the tall ones?

The tall ones are very convenient to work with (I have two of them), but they naturally require a lot of soil. Filling a raised bed can be pricey; that's the main reason. Plus, I probably wouldn't grow really tall crops like okra in a tall bed because it wouldn't be convenient to harvest from.

Did you lay Dewitt landscape fabric down in the kitchen garden before placing the epic beds and putting woodchips down? I love the epic cell trays and individual humidity domes. I don't have their beds yet, but I hope yo get some next year.

There is landscape fabric below the rock, yes. I'm not sure what brand. When I put down the beds, though, I cut the landscape fabric out of the center of the beds. I really like the raised bed soil to have contact with the ground below (personal preference).

I didn't put down fabric, I used cardboard and it has now degraded and I have tree roots coming up in my beds. My house is surrounded by trees and I use the sliver of full sun to grow my garden. Not sure the fabric would have helped but I will use it next time.
