So, I have 3 outdoor cats that used to constantly drag in LIVE animals and big ass bugs only to just set them loose to scurry around the house and it would be an utter nightmare 💀 That means there were multiple times where I’d be woken up at the literal asscrack of dawn to my cat Gucci running into my room doing her usual “look what I caught!” howl and then suddenly I’ll have a live bird furiously flapping around my dark bedroom and literally flying into my ceiling fan and slamming into my furniture and shit. After a lot of trial and error, I’ve learned that the easiest and quickest way to get a bird out of your house is to turn all the lights off and open the nearest window/door that leads to the outside. That way the window basically turns into a beacon and it’s much easier for the bird to find the exit. If it doesn’t fly out right away, gently nudge it with a broom to give it incentive lol. BONUS PRO TIP: If you have an outdoor cat that keeps bringing creatures into your house, buy them a few hunting toys! Look for any toys that are designed specifically to stimulate a cat’s hunting instincts. And if there’s a certain creature that your cat often brings in, get a toy that looks/behaves similar to that creature. For example, my cats’ favorite toys are the type where there’s a bird or butterfly on the end of a wire and the base of the toy spins the wire around so it looks like it’s flying in circles. Also Gucci in particular is OBSESSED with “kicking” toys, aka toys that allow her to lay on her side and hold them steady with her front paws while she kicks at them with her back paws!
