Well, they've been doing that with everyone, Grian, Gem, Pearl, they've been scooping up all the best ones. Every single person they've added recently where people I watched from before, and I don't watch a lot of Minecraft players so it's almost weird how they pick all my favorites, except for Skizz which I only knew about because Hermitcraft. But I guess they have some kind of metrics or something that tells them where the audiences converge.

Skizz has been a part of the life series forever, and they have always thought of him as an unofficial hermit. He is also Impulse's best friend, and hosts the Imp and Skizz podcast, which is 100% worth checking out if you are into podcasts.

@@daniel4647 I mean,, there's very strong overlap in the audiences that is extraordinarily easy to see if you watch their other stuff. Both of the new hermits are members of the Life Series, Skizz is one of Impulse and Tango's best friends, Joel plays with Grian and Jimmy even outside of minecraft stuff and is one of their friends, not to mention that he was a member of Empires SMP, which people wanted (and eventually got) a crossover with hermitcraft of for forever and which also featured two other hermits (Gem and Pearl). This is absolutely also why the community's main guesses for the new hermits were these two. It just made sense.

Although I think "グローベリーさんぎょう" is probably more appropriate as I'm not sure if you can use kanji characters in minecraft. Just another explanation on the characters here Joel. The first 6 characters are katakana, so the pronunciation is quite literally "guroo berii", as if you were to spell "glow berry" in Japanese characters. The final five characters are hiragana and are pronounced "sangyoo", this is an actual Japanese word for "industry".

Actually Joel, the reason why the colors on your glow berry farm looks so well together, despite looking as though it wouldnt, is because theyre complimentary to each other on the color wheel! Like how orange complements blue and yellow compliments purple!

things that aren't complementary colors can look good too. I don't think the complementarity is the only reason, although it is certainly a contributing factor. Reducing artistic enjoyment to the algorithmic relationships of colors on a made-up wheel is a bit robotic. Not saying you're doing that, but the minecraft community obsesses with the color wheel a bit too much sometimes

Also, they are not pure colours. Pure complementary colours put side by side frequently cause visual discomfort, but if they are not exactly opposite, they can look good.

@jhat2014 Of course, things that aren't complimentary colors can still look good together. I'm only pointing out in this instance that his build looks good because of it, along with the other neutral colors he used such as gray and the dark brown, though I didn't want to elaborate more than needed because it was a simple observation I wanted to make. Though, you're mistaken on the color wheel being made up, as it is and has been backed up by science since Isaac Newton's experiments with prisms. You can try it yourself as well: if you look at a bright pink color on a screen for a period of time then look away, you'll see the color green; if you look at a snowy picture where the sun shining is yellow, the shadows will look blue despite it actually being gray if you color pick it, etc. I can understand where you're coming from in thinking that obsessing over complimentary colors is artistically stifling, but the truth is we see complimentary colors in everything. They scientifically work well together, and add depth to a piece, whether that's a painting or a minecraft build. Again, not to say other colors can look good together as well, as you can see it with tetradic or quadratic color schemes. It can also depend on the values or saturation of the colors. Complimentary colors are just one of the common ways to enhance something with color. Sorry if this was super long and hard to read, im just really passionate about colors!

The Minecraft wiki has a Japanese localization. That would be helpful for getting the "canon" Japanese names for items and entities. You could also switch your in-game language to Japanese to verify.

I think this project is really showcasing what an outstanding builder Joel is. Like, yes, the Mezalian Empire and Stratos were absolutely BONKERS, but it's also hard not to be impressed by such big projects. Meanwhile, this base is much more "unassuming" in terms of size, but I'm just as blown away by it. The amount of detail that Joel is being able to cram in such a small space is crazy, and the way he is selling the "Japanese Cyberpunk" vibe (which, by the way, I've never seen be done in Minecraft before) is even more crazy. Joel should really feel proud of himself!

couple things: i had literally just woken up a minute before i saw the notification for this episode ... the Gollum bit threw me for a loop, i tell you what. i laughed so hard at that "oh my god" segment that i snorted a couple of times. i had no idea Gem had that horn 💀 regarding Japanese translations - i saw someone suggest that you change your game language to Japanese so you can see what the correct translation would be! that gets you the "glow berries" part, at least! (i hope the members only thing was intentional rather than a mistake!)

From the Minecraft Wiki: グロウベリー (gurouberii) or グローベリー (gurooberii) for glow berry. Also, I still prefer 入口 (iriguchi) over エントラス (entoransu) for entrance. The first one is actually Japanese whereas the second is English written with Japanese characters.

glowberry industries translation: glowberry: グロベリー literally just guroberii, its just in katakana there’s a lot of words that could mean industry or business but i went with 事業 (Jigyō) which kinda means enterprise, operation, etc. this word changed from kanji to katakana is ジギョウ so the full thing would be: グロベリー ジギョウ or グロベリー 事業 guroberī jigyō

11:06 i can explain this! so in color theory, that teal and orange are opposites on the color wheel, making them a good pair, along with the more neutral colors like brown and greyscale! i hope this makes sense

yeah i've noticed that unlike some of the other really good builders (pearl, scar, bdubs) joel doesn't really know how colour theory works technically. instead it feels like he has some kind of natural understanding of what works and what doesn't. and we know he's good at it because damn that empires s1 build... awesome

Pearl scar and bdubs all have some artistic background whereas Joel's only recently began building seriously, around four to five years ago and by his own admission isn't good at art in the traditional sense. Hence why he doesn't know much about colour theory. But I think that also makes his progress impressive in my opinion and interesting to watch as he becomes more knowledgeable on these kinds of things

グロウベリー会社 (gurou beri-- kaisha) would be "Glow Berry Company"... I checked Glow Berry on a japanese minecraft site and just doublechecked on Minecraft itself after switching it to Japanese lol I wondered if the third character would be different but apparently this is the one used in the game. Not sure how "industries" translates.. dunno business terms much but Kaisha is pretty standard.. ? I think even companies that have "industries" in the title still use "kaisha" at the end.. there's some ... public stock company thing which, instead of just 会社 at the end, it's 株式会社 (kabushiki kaisha)... グロウベリー株式会社 if you imply stock trading publically stuff (...i don't understand this stuff in any language...) or グロウベリー会社 for straight up "glow berry company" hope that helps ! enjoying the build !

Minecraft calls glowberries "グローベリー" or "guro-beri-" so glowberry company would literally just be "グローベリー会社" Alternatively you could call it something like “輝実会社” or "terumi kaisha" using the kanji 輝 for shining and 実 the kanji for fruit, effectively calling it the "shiny fruit company". What's cool is that "terumi" is using the name reading for those kanji, so it sounds like the company is actually named after somebody named "shining fruit". Edit: if you want specifically "industries" instead of just "company" you would replace 会社 with 産業
