Hey Graham! That’s what make a great novel right? The eternal and archetypal characters and events. I’ll get it in a poll soon 👍

There's a short story by Ursula K Leguin.. it's from the book "The Compass Rose ". It's titled 'The Author of the Acacia Seeds'. It's so very good and your voice would bring it to true life!

Hello Lewis! First of all, I want to thank you for what you are doing for all of us . Although you are a bookworm, I can imagine that it isn't easy to keep reading every evening for someone invisible and even listen to their opinion about what is better to read next. I also want to share with you my opinion about Dickens. My first language is Russian, I grew up in a different literary tradition. Dickens became a discovery for me. It is impossible to study a language without immersing yourself in its literature and culture, because of it I started reading classic English authors, and Dickens was one of them. His language, characters, plots, and sense of rhythm of his texts are fascinating. Suddenly I realized that the Russian Fyodor Dostoevsky was our Russian Dickens. They were contemporaries. I suppose that they had the sensory perception of life in some way similar, but they were born in different countries and had different destinies. Even the endings of their novels tell us this. It's interesting that you offered some one of 3 authors for the next reading, and all of them are brilliant and push us to think about the world around us and its fragility. I will be happy with any of them.

Hi 👋 Thank you for your comment! I’m pleased that you are enjoying the channel. It’s looking like Oliver Twist has one the poll and so we will begin reading that on Sunday at 8pm Yes. The epic authors really take you on a journey and bring the scenes and characters to life. We read ‘a tale of two cities’ on the channel some time ago, and it was a grind at times, but so great. I’ve never read the great Russian writers yet, but I plan too. I have read all of Ouspensky’s writing tho. Have you heard of him?

Actually not, I've just seen the information about him, he escaped from The USSA in 1920. I will know about him and his books. Thanks!

I read David Copperfield. It was good but long😅. All are great choices. As a person in my sixties, I too was forced to read some materials and later loved to read those books. What a ninnyhead I was.😂

Yes, David Cooperfield is quite the sizable book. Would take a good deal of time to get through it. Looking like Oliver Twist will win the poll. Still time to vote tho 😊

In general I love Dickens stories....but he can often be very hard for me to follow...sometimes I feel like I need a translator to get through some of his writings...or a "Dickens For Dummies" guide!! ..I love David Copperfield

Hey Karen. For sure he is very hard going. But sometimes we have to work hard for the knowledge and wisdom. I’ll get a Dickens in a poll soon 🙏
