Love these videos, im addicted to 7 days ever since the 1.0 release on console but building has never been my strong suit so I’ve been looking for good POI’s to turn into bases. Keep up the great content!

I am relatively new to 7 days to die. . . well 300hrs, but not really more than a month in any playthrough as I try to work out skill trees. But as a solo player I prefer smaller easy to manage bases given the amount of coming and going. Small pass & gas station is my current fav. Walled backyard for farm, roof top for dew. Build a small courtyard and link up with fenced region. Upgrade fence region over time to cobble then concrete. Second was one of the smaller bars for same thing.

I still love the rook of the large crack a book store. The one with the burnt car in the front window. It's super solid. There is LOTS of room on the roof for a garden, many dew collectors, and landing pad for the gyrocopter. The little room on the roof has plenty of room for storage and workstations.

i took over the top two floors of higashi all that dirt at the top is plantable now it may be for a later game base but if you have a team you should be good the area is mostly open no need to. and I put up a ladder and made it look like a maintenance ladder ih sides for protection but there are many ways to set this up and plus a gyrocopter is easy to land in an emergency and you can set up more ways up too without even having to put a claim block down. i did it on warrior with sprint for all zeds in the winter by my lonesome so it is doable but my favorite so far has changed from the bunker pass n gass to johnnytown. johnytown all you really need to do is make sure there is no way up from underneath and fortify the garage over the entrance as long as you keep the garage doors closed those babys hold up well

Church with the cemetery and 3 mausoleums. 3 steel gates, cobblestone wall, building is all cobblestone and concrete. Main steel gate opens, and is a lovely choke point. I use a rear and main entrance, rear from roof, build off the floor. I keep using it, course I'll build a horde base by day 14. but dang if it doesn't do a great, ready made base and horde base for day 7. (can flatten out the roof for dew and farms) Couple rows of spikes, railing to shoot thru around the edges. easy peasy. Best of luck to you, survivors! Back in A15 I loved to live in the hotel. I did one horde night and they tore it down, funny and interesting to fall that far back then! lol

Would be cool if you pick a couple pois to do a house flipper kind of thing where you show how "you" would fortify and fix

Just figured out I can upgrade the bottom of the grain silos to steel. Best base ever. And I use both my home and horde base as the same. Take out the ladder bottom going up to the silo top. Huge area for all my storage and forge etc. it’s solid concrete and they have to take out 5 of the 6 concrete silos to do anything to my base on top. I played concrete in the gaps between the silos and you can upgrade the bottom ring around the silos to steel. You can also add to it by digging a moat around it as well.

The fire station 3 can be viable as a solo player base, just requires a little more work to convert to permanent horde/crafting base, but is one of the better spots for a group of players as well.
@sociallyferal4237Ай бұрын
I found the smaller fire station a pretty good solo base. That large one was just too much space for soloing in. Felt like a waste and harder to keep a good eye on.
@MarcusBrutusPLАй бұрын
@4:21 I used the Fire District 3 from day 5 to day 35 as both crafting base and horde base. Later as just crafting base. Initially I left 1st floor alone, except destroying bottom of the staircase. Set up sleeping room where the beds were, bathrooms were already in place. ;) Kitchen area was remade a bit into kitchen and dining, conference and fitness rooms were made into crafting areas. I used lower roof area for garden and dew collectors (dismantled the ventilation system once I got into iron tools). High roof tower was the entry into horde base - extended it three blocks ouside the wall, made fighting platform and short killing path (10 spaces) with two staircases: one starting outside the wall, one inside. Eventually there were 4 paths for zeds to take up onto the same killing path. Problem was that I could not extend the path because of next building and once the demolishers showed up things got a bit to dangerous for my taste, as in the danger they would blow up near the building was too great, because a lot of the times I could not spot them through all other zeds ... But by that time I build my own horde base outside in winter biome, certified to withstand day 7000 hordes with 64 zeds setting ;) Old horde base set up is great for disposing screamers. 1st floor has been remade into garage. Only problem is that high roof is too short for nice take off in gyrocopter.

Another good base is the fire department in the towns (I think it's NFD 4). It's great for a smaller project. My husband and I have transformed one into our horde base. I like to call it The Blender (fan traps, anyone?).

I prefer to build on the bridges at the beginning. 1: The ascent over the sloping bridge pillars is very easy and if you have blocked 3 of the 4 with a few blocks, it is also easy to defend at start. Usually works with a stick on the 2nd or third blood moon. 2nd: Half of the upper area becomes a roofed dwelling. In order for this to work with simple wood, however, you have to raise a central support column. this can / should later also form the protected ladder ascent. However, a foundation for the column IN the river is absolutely essential (so be patient enough to knock a hole in the metal roadway at one point). 3: The other half of the bridge can later be used as a garden or, alternatively, as a simple drop-down blood moon base. The visibility is really good on the bridge, you are usually close to the merchant and the town and the number of blocks for the basic construction (only one platform with a zombie-proof ladder) is very low. Materials can be found in the immediate vicinity even in the desert (clay, which is rare in the desert, can be found in the riverbed).

I don't get your concept of a crafting base. Do people actually ever build on the 1st floor? In general, any 2 or 3 floor house does great. Its really a matter of how much do you need to remove with a lvl 1 stone axe to secure the 2nd floor and up. 1000 to 1500 hp [2 to 3 blocks is a GREAT choice. Fire Station 3 is great, for mid to late game if you're moving to a new zone or want to tempt fate in a T3 early, though you didn't mention the 2nd floor vending machines which is the reason it is so great.

You are 💯 incorrect about the Quick Lube location. You cannot place anything on the roof of that building, you would literally have to destroy the entire roof one block at a time and rebuild it enable to place anything.
@sociallyferal4237Ай бұрын
I suppose you could put a half block stepping stone and build a platform on top.
@Firespark81Ай бұрын
Yes you can. Stuff will just float lol.
@mikepeters8132Ай бұрын
Things can be placed, but they do float. I guess it's all down to whether you can live with that or not.
@LNDF_ShivАй бұрын
I've built a horde base on the top of the quick lube. Yeah, if you don't want things floating you need to clean up the blue roof tiles at 1k hp each, and replace them, but early game, just to get a basic spot that's pretty safe? It's good. And later game, removing the roof would be a good way to pass time at night.

Following Jawoodle's coffee shop series, I actually find the coffee shops a useful little forward operating bases, at least early on. They are usually located close to the centre of a town so looting runs are easy. The cemeteries are not too shabby and usually located out on the edge of a town so you aren't getting the city hoards. Good walls and gates.
@Firespark81Ай бұрын
Aren't the coffee shops all wood?
@AndrewEddieАй бұрын
@@Firespark81 yes, but they are only a 7x10 footprint, so not costly to upgrade in the early game.

Well, that totally depends on what map you’re on. I set up shop in the Fire station. I’m on the pregen8k1 map and there are several on that map. On Navezgane there’s (I think) only 1 and it’s in the bigger town intone wasteland area.

@@garethbrown8947 hey m8, not sure if it works or not but try pressing F1 with a keyboard connected, then type "dm" and press enter. pausing the game should let you select a POI teleporter which u can then use to filter any structure and or teleport to it. you can also just write down the coordinates. If the console does not open after pressing F1 then sadly I don't think it's possible on console versions. lmk if it worked

I’ve always loved the various Ranger Stations, but I never use them as I always end up inside a city (I normally just set up on the road in front of my first traders, with a 2-3 dew collectors and forge. I usually just binge missions until i have switch traders two or three times, only then moving into a POI.) I was a huge fan of the small fire station from the last version, that had a small balcony on the front and back. Knock out the stairwell and you have plenty of room on the second floor for your base.

Love this series. You didn't mention that the first 2 can have working vending machines, which is a massive perk. I do like the Fast Lube, although like many POIs the roof is made of half blocks, so it's going to look weird to build on top without replacing them (which is a huge pain).
