This is the first Friday that Fridays with Farwell reminded me it was Friday 😂 Great content as usual. 7 is a reasonable threshold and thanks for reminding me it’s Friday

After watching the OHL Podcast with you and Dan I kind of agree 3 fights in a bit low. So you already have a player with 3 fights and now suspended. Now were they knock them down drag out fights or just a small skirmish. I have seen guys get a major for fighting that was not really a fight at all. So maybe 5 would be a better number. I kind of liked the idea of 30 fights per team before anyone get suspended. Not all players will fight so that might be a way to go.

@@brianbaxter3913 it makes sense and since it's already being used under the CHL umbrella, why not?

My team growing up was the Broad Street Bullies. They won 2 stanley cups without ever fighting, lol.

Yes, it should increase. Most of the time it's barely a fight. But 3 is not enough for Manny during this high intensity, emotional game. I'm here for 7 before suspension.

Throwing spaghetti at the wall on this one. Cap each team with 34 fights per regular season. To get 34, I did some simple math of 68 (games per regular season) / 2. I don't believe any team in this day and age of the game would ever reach a regular season average of 1 fight per game, so I sliced it in half. Perhaps built-in fines and player suspensions begin after a team hits the 10-fight mark. The more fights that accumulate and inch closer to the 34-mark, the stronger the fines and player disciplinary actions become. Essentially, from a high-level perspective, the creation of a well-defined and tiered disciplinary mandate and/or system that can be applied to all teams. If a team were to exceed the 34 fight threshold... that is beyond my pay-grade - ha! My thoughts on fighting at this time. This thought applies to all players, aged 16-20, who play in the Ontario Hockey League. No exceptions. When a player exits the dressing room and willingly (very important to note the willingness factor) enters the ice surface (within the boundaries of the boards) and the gate closes, the player has officially (and willingly) entered the fray and understands that there is a possibility of engaging in physical contact (fighting included) over the course of a 60-minute game. Fighting will not leave the game permanently, but these players do realize and understand the risks associated with willingly entering the ice surface (within the boundaries of the boards) where there is a possibility of confrontation which may lead to a fight. I think the league has done a good job at getting the fighting numbers down over the years and I agree, something needed to be done to mitigate the staged goon wars of yester-year, but let's continue to tinker and find a proper fit. I don't think we've found that fit just yet. Go Greyhounds!
