Hey Buddy we use to crab Coochin creek up river from Bribie Island and found the 8th to 11th day after big rains the big bucks start heading down stream. The small bucks and Jenny's head down first. We got 42 big bucks one night some well into the 2kg mark. Good fishing Buddy. Joe.

U.S.A. secrete, instead of wasting time tying the crabs up, just toss them into a cooler of ice water! they go into a dormant stage, when you get back to the dock, pop the lids and clean them there, put in cooler, take home and enjoy!

I chatted to a commercial crab fisherman in NSW a few months ago. He said the mud crabs doesn’t breed well if at all in the cooler waters of NSW. He explained that the spat travelled on the East Coast Current and is distributed down their coast. On years with poor current the following year is usually poor in catch. This is the main reason keeping Jenny’s in that state in legal.

My advice on crab tying is check out the vid one the all 4 adventure on ytube about crab tying it’s quick easy an not dangerous either get it down put each crabs about 20sec

Why waste time tying them??? go buy a box of rubber bands and be done with it. Takes about 5 seconds to rubberband a claw .or even wrap with cheap electrical tape.
