the only thing I liked about this drama (and I've only watched the first few episodes that got decent subtitles) was the food and the chubby crown prince. also, I was already more interested in the tewo other girls trying for the job than the actual FL... just screamed Mary Sue to me with everything she did

I came here to say, that I tried to watch the drama, but the plot makes me sleep. Really, they use the advantage of the ending between the characters of Ying Luo and Fu Han in the Story of Yanxi palace to get fans all riled up, and the outcome is ...you know.

Ahh, that makes sense. I didn't finish Yanxi so I had no idea about this ship😂. Kind of thought she looks good enough with the Emperor in there.

I've watched this drama up to ep 18 ( i didn't even know how i get through it) and it's so boring. I like the male lead though, he looks much better than in the Ancient Love Poetry. But i can't stand the fl make up, so plain and make the female lead looks older (and her acting can't make it up). I hate her character that seems have special "halo" on her head, she can do sht but will always get away from it, knows everything, can solve everything and super lucky. I just drink black coffee...... I'm bitter

Yes, maybe they should have let the female lead start from zero and learn her skills, it would've made for an more interesting story line :D

I'm watching it and I really hate the episodes where they don't focus on the food. When they start just talking it's miserable to watch. The dialogue is stilted. every action is so telegraphed. I've seen about six episodes and I could probably tell you what's going to happen for the whole rest of the season

I watched this drama for many reasons the ming dynasty the cooking because I mess jewel in the palace and the actress and I continued because she was the opposite of wei yingluo 😆 and the food helps you to be patient and the characters have good and bad side of course there's characters you just want to punch 👊 I dropped it after the male lead became the emperor because they made female lead too perfect like way too much perfection and the male lead his personality and their love story aren't interesting and the things the writers when they do it and it's making all the other characters worse and worse to move to have more episodes and to make the lead couple look good 🙄 I wished they made her bestie the female lead she was more interesting she made mistakes and learn from them and character development is refreshing she's not intelligent like the others but talented and creative mind her own business and her first meeting with the guy who seemed to be her love interest was different than the usual cdrama first meetings he's also a good guy even though didn't have much of him since he wasn't main character
