What kind of lazy developer do you need to be to not even have it coded in there that Sims don't steal the last sink on a lot (so it can work as intended)??? It is so clear to me they never playtest, and it's not the gamers job to install a basement to get around this issue and it's not the modders job to "fix" whatever EA was too lazy not to do themselves. It's not our job to fix the game, most certainly not for $40...

The funny thing is, npcs can steal everything from you but your Sim is limited in the stuff you can take from npcs' homes unless they've changed this since release.

This is actually scary. This will ruin your game. Your sims will flirt with anyone, constantly use objects that fill up their inventory, destroy community lots by stealing sinks, tables, chairs, and get normal interactions interrupted because they have to do all these things autonomously. Thank you for the video Carl, I am surprised not many people are making videos about this. This is a disaster and Maxis should have known better.

They STILL haven't fixed the Outdoor Enthusiast aspiration that Seasons broke. It's pretty hard to harvest unidentified plants in the forest when they're only in season once or twice a year and it takes 2-3 days for the plants to flower. I have to basically live in the woods for a year to finish it, and even then sometimes it wrongly identifies plants before I my sim can.

Yeah, I'm extremely grateful for modders doing these things for us, but honestly, the Sims devs are literally payed for dealing with and preventing this stuff, and they aren't doing their jobs! It's so infurating how they just release buggy/uncompleted packs and let the community deal with it by themselves :/ Edit: typo

Exactly! People should be able to run a completely vanilla game and expect it to work just fine. Mods are supposed to be optional add-ons, not required to get the game to function properly! It seems like the team takes the amazingly talented modding community for granted, and uses its existence as justification for releasing shoddy packs, even though creating a functional game is THEIR LITERAL JOB.

It feels weird, that modders fix every mistake that Maxis don't even seem to try... I cannot mod games, so I don't know how hard it was for Zero to fix this bug, but since the mod is out so fast, I'd believe that the game's staff could have fixed it in half the time. Is it that they just didn't care? :(

I honestly think that they are just on time budgets and just can't catch or fix everything before release. Think of it like this: They have say 5 game testers/bug catchers who probably catch a ton of things before a functional game releases. However, there are thousands of us out here who are psuedo testers for them. They know that we will catch whatever they don't. They know there are modders out there that will fix stuff. I believe that they pick and choose what they will fix from our complaints and probably lift codes from modders for the things that make the game operate in the way that they intended it.

When you work for a big company, there are more steps to getting a patch out. You have to thoroughly identify the source of the issue and change the code of course, but then you also have to go through extensive testing to make sure your fix doesn't cause any more issues, which can involve testing many different scenarios on many different pieces of hardware, depending on the issue. If your fix DOES cause unexpected behavior, then you can expect it to take even longer. You also have to wait for everybody else on your team to finish whatever they were working on for the patch before it can be approved and rolled out. Of course, for major bugs they try to expedite this process, but it still takes time. The reason modders are faster at fixing issues is because they can just fix it and release it on their blog.

@@Kattywagon29 I'm pretty sure taking codes from modders and putting them into the game is illegal. a piece of code is still intellectual property, that wouldn't be any different from putting CC into the game and acting like they made it themselves. I believe it's a combination of EA not caring and underfunding the sims team, and the team itself being bad. good programmers are more expensive, testing, bug fixes, etc. take time and money. I don't like people who put all the blame on just EA or just the developers, (I'm assuming) the devs are incompetent because they're being run by an incompetent company who doesn't give a crap about it's products and only wants to make and save as much money as possible.

I didn't pay attention to NAPs and Sharing is Caring passed. I had seen this on KZbin, so I hastily fenced in all my stuff and locked my doors to anyone but my friends. Then my friends came over and stole all my stuff.

I’m genuinely annoyed by the latest patch. It is SO buggy and I don’t even have Eco Lifestyle (which I’m glad of, as it seems to have even MORE bugs!) I feel like the patch was rushed out to support the release of the expansion, which was also rushed. They had a deadline from EA and had to meet it despite working from home for months (which makes things a lot harder). They should have had an extension, done more QA and got rid of these bugs. It’s making the game unplayable.

the new activities would work great with TS2's personality traits. neat sims would never dumpster dive or woohoo in dumpsters, shy sims wouldn't play instruments in public while outgoing sims would, etc. it would make sims feel more diverse and it'd require minimal coding, just use the trait as a multiplier for how often the actions happen. i don't think there's a decent way to do that with TS4's trait system...

Exactly. Even in TS3 traits affect behavior and make them unique. I think it's funny that they marketed TS4 with smarter sims when they are the dumbest most vapid ones yet. Even if they were talking purely on routing (which I suspect they were but didn't outright say it), even that is just the devs making them route through ANYTHING instead of making them smarter. I'm watching people play with the new ladders and they are constantly phasing through each other lol.

Exactly! And on general, TS2 and TS3/4 personality systems wouldn't exclude each other. TS2 system would take care of big picture as you describe and TS3/4 would add some spice in sims: you could choose ~special traits~ for example interest in gardening, kleptomaniac, family oriented, vegetarian etc. That would make those three trait lots not so hard to choose (not that any of those traits really even matter). No idea how hard that would be to make to work but as an idea.

I initially held off buying the Moschino pack (it was a struggle not to buy it day one, honestly, photography is one of my favourite aspects of TS4). When I eventually got round to buying it a couple of weeks ago, I realized the freelancer career that was essentially the selling point of the pack was broken. There's reports on EA's helpsite of people having the exact same issue since the pack was released and they've still not fixed it. So they're not even fixing stuff post-launch.

Thank you for speaking out, I literally had to go to each world & take off “Sharing is Caring” Action Plan after I turned off the npc voting. They took furniture from my restaurants and community lots. My household was out to eat and npc’s stole the table and chairs from underneath us 3 times before I had enough. The eco footprint system doesn’t work correctly. I can’t rally votes for a community space either lol I’m only laughing because my heart broke seeing my town being robbed in front of me 😂😂

Right? Watching James Turner’s Rags to Riches made me so glad I didn’t get this pack - he was having to battle other Sims just to get a chance at dumpster diving as it was so attractive to everyone. As you say, Sims without Freegan/Slob shouldn’t want to do that. Sims without Romantic (or perhaps with Jealous) shouldn’t want to Woohoo all the time, even in a free love community. Sims without Mean or Hot Headed shouldn’t want to be getting in fights every five seconds. It’s pure laziness on EA’s part - they couldn’t be bothered to make the mechanics for it, so they just applied it to everyone.

You can use some of the features without it already. I'm sure a few modders will come up with ways/objects to allow base game to save electricity. There are already base game water collection objects at mod the sims (a well and some other objects, depending on if you are base game or have certain other packs)

OP - the new off grid features come with the patch, other than generating your own electricity. So if you don’t mind being lit by candles and ‘adding ice’ to your refrigerator, you really don’t need the pack. HOWEVER, I’m experiencing bugs with off the grid and I don’t have Eco Lifestyle. EG, eating fruit and veg no longer gives buffs correctly so my Sims have to constantly go out and fish in order to have a decent meal and get a happy buff.

I couldn't stop laughing about the sinks. LOL. In my game, I'm having a cake situation. I have twin young adults living in an apartment, and they gave their parents and siblings a key to the place. The Mom comes over every day to bake a cake. Sometimes 2 cakes. Always the same cake...white with sprinkles. At first I thought maybe it was because the twins had just gotten their first jobs and she came over to celebrate. Then I thought it was because one of the twins got a raise and she came over to celebrate again. Now I have no idea why, and also, their teen sister started making a cake but thankfully stopped and put the ingredients in the livingroom. My twins now have 4 cakes in their fridge and they're getting fat, lol.

This was my immediate worry when I first saw the early gameplays, especially when I saw how that sharing is caring NAP, and learned that there is also a NAP where everyone was allowed to cheat. I hate those novelties Maxis throw in the Sims 4. I never have those problems with The Sims 2 and 3, because sims in those games were diverse enough. So "gameplay" like this breaks immersion, 1.) Sims in the Sims 4 have no diverse personalities when you don't play them (even when you do). They don't act their given traits. And this feature right here amplifies how less diverse the sims are. Now even sims with jealous traits will act even less jealous with that NAP enabled in the neighborhood. 2.) It gives some traits like Kelpto or Active less value, because you can simply vote for a NAP that can make them kepto or active. 3.) If sims in the sims 4 actually act their personality, I wouldn't have mind these NAPs enabled. Like if Sims who are jealous would actually get angry when they see their special someone cheat on them, Or if lazy seems would feel uncomfortable having to go jog then that could give meaning to the NAPs gameplay. But because (as I said in my first point) sims don't act their traits, they break immersion, they break how YOU want to tell their stories. and lastly 4. (and this is just me) I really don't like it that some NAPs aren't available to other worlds, like the modern living NAP. Yes I get it why they aren't included, mostly because that NAP involves having change the backdrop of the neighborhood. But Build/Buy mode are categorize in the world, and the "modern" style is one of them, so why the can't we have other neighborhoods be modern? Once again, Maxis has just proven how either lazy they are or how less they pay attention to their player base.

Yep, my Sims keep baking white cakes. The children keep grabbing drinks from the fridge. I've actually had to move the fridge to the family inventory and cheat their hunger away to stop it.

The apartments that change with modern development have an issue I noticed while playing. I changed the walls to make the apartment fit more bedrooms. After it switched to the modern development, it ended up deleting the door permanently because the new door was bigger than the old door and couldn't place where I had a wall. Wth..

The "Sharing is Caring" NAP was implemented in the worst way possible. I would have enjoyed it if they made it so you can enter homes without permission and use their stuff as you wish, and then NPCs can come into your home and eat your food, sleep in your bed, etc. Instead they gave all NPCs klepto behavior which is just frustrating, not fun.

The whole reason why i voted for Sharing is Caring is because i had a rich household and wanted to let people know they were welcome to come in and use what they needed. Instead they just stole furniture that wont help them in any way so i had to disable it. We don't even have the option to be generous in this game, it's pathetic.

OMG YES! I was playing with a restaurant in Magnolia Promenade and I didn't realise it but the Sharing is Caring NAP was in effect so everyone was taking the furniture. I ended up having to use a cheat to repeal it so I could get back to normal gameplay.

They will also steal more than just sinks and counters. In my game, they stole all of my sims' computers, their video game console, their couch, their rugs, and even one of my sim's birth certificate! I was so pissed off at that point. They don't just steal from community lots but also home lots. I'm to scared to check out the new evergreen neighborhood but it might be ransacked. I don't wanna refurnish it.

What do you know? You open a public space where everyone has access to goods and suddenly people take them for themselves and bring them home. Sims 4 getting hella realistic here XD It's the same thing that happened where I lived, with a rack of bikes that were meant to be shared by the community. Bikes got all stolen in a matter of weeks.

From what I heard this wasn't playtested at all. I wonder if its because of budget, time or they just dont care. Ea seems to have enough money to make games that work, so that shouldn't be an issue If they were short on time, why not delay announcing the pack. They only annoyed it a little while ago and if it was so far from finished they could have just waited a bit and no one would even know I honestly think they just dont care. People will buy it no matter what.

😬 They team doesn't play test, like if you look the streams is painfully obvious that they don't even know how to use the game. And the GC are mostly builders and people who don't really play the game, they just do videos for revenue and don't care about the franchise at all.

'Fun fact': Sometimes I'll be minding my own business when my game decides that the neighborhood suddenly has a neutral footprint despite having all eco-friendly lots. This alone wouldn't be too bad, but it always decreases the quality of my perfect plants back down to magnificent. It's so frustrating and I can't help but wonder how this slipped past the devs

Right!? I understand that green footprint is giving a quality boost to plants, but I thought that if the footprint reverted to neutral the plants would just go back to the quality they were before the boost. But no, they just decrease them all equally ! So you spend time re-getting them to perfect, then the game glitches and neighborhood gets back to neutral (which it does once a week) and you start again. Forever.

I played univseristy for a whole 20 minutes. I got my sims in a dorm got her all set up and went to classes. While in her room i told her to do her course work. the sim proceeded to walk past their desk go out of their room, go into a room 3 doors down where a sim that she didn't even know was sleeping and use their desk waking them in the processes. the hell is going on?!

Sky Walker I had it start in some neighbourhoods from the start of the game so couldn’t hurt to check, they can only potentially vote it in every week but if it’s in your neighbourhood you’d probably know if the vote is winning ahead of time

I don't have EL, but find the new patch very buggy. I was playing a teen who visits her cousin's family house (which is a family I play extensively), while she was swimming, the dad, *who's cooking skill is maxed out*, catches their *high end stove* on fire. The whole family rushes out the house and panics in the front yard. The teen stops swimming and joins them. After a while, I realize she cant fight the fire because the doors are locked, she can't call the fire department because her cell is blank/locked, she can't leave nor can I save and take control of the family because that function goes away when there is a fire on the lot. The family (NPCs) doesnt fight the fire or call the fire department. They just stand outside...for so long, they stop panicking and stare zombie-like at the conflagration...so long they piss on themselves and fall asleep while the whole lower floor catches fire. I ended up leaving the game without saving because there was nothing I could do.

I'm wondering if they only test Base Game + [whatever pack they're working on]... because a lot of the really buggy and breaky glitches seem to crop up on launch, when they weren't as prominent for Game Changer videos?? It isn't an excuse, in the least, because they should absolutely test packs with *all other packs*, but it would make sense as to how they're missing so many bugs;;; Also, given the few streams I've caught with Gurus trying to hype up pack features, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "hell naw" to the teams actually play testing. It's a good idea, like all the NAP's, they just don't care enough to actually make them functional. The ideas aren't flawed (other than it not being what we wanted), it's the lack of QA testing and bug fixes and effort EA puts into their game

If the incidences of the sharing is caring NAP trigger occurence were turned down and tied to a specific trait maybe? So sims with the frugal trait are more likely to pick up stuff from community lots, and sims with the like donator trait are more likely to drop stuff off, there could be equilibrium? And items that are a base requirement for the lot to function can't be removed by npcs during gameplay. And the NAP wouldn't be so overwhelming. And maybe a NAP can only be voted in when certain requirements are met? For traits or residents or community lots? This is so overbroad. IDK, I feel like island living, tiny living and eco lifestyle have similar parts and its like working in conjunction if all parts were nonbuggy some really cool neighborhoods would be possible.

I *despise* Sharing is Caring, but people have asked for chaos, quirkiness and even specifically asked for robbers to come back to the game so this concept works if they can just make it less ridiculous.

My thoughts what should have been included/patched as well to make this expansion a "superior" pack: - Health Status report for Sims: It would be affected by your sims lifestyle. (The pack called eco lifestyle and didnt include this what a shame.) For example if your sims sit 7-24, dont do any sport, eat unhealthy food, being in an industrial neighbourhood for too long they would get bad health status causing a possible early death, harder movement, bad mood, getting sick more time (with Get to work maybe), asthma etc., good health status would cause longer lifespans, maybe less annoying elder animations, faster skills gaining etc. i leave it for your immagination... - The eco gameplay effects all Worlds properly. (More trashy looks) - Neighbourhood Action Plans have just a little bit more active spots at a time and plans related to other dlc's (for example: Be in a club, have a pet etc.). - Communtity lots have more outcome options (f.e. Party hang out, which effects maybe Industrial foot print etc). - More gameplay to industrial footprint and esspecially make it easier to get there... (Plumbella tried in 3 videos and only managed to get there with cheats...). - Be able to choose the starter eco footprint like starter season (at least in worlds which not from Eco Lifestyle). If you have any other feature(s) in mind let me know :D!

I dont have eco lifestyle but I realized I have this problem, my sims living in sulani and their outdoor trashcan keep filling up with the trash, made their moodlet turn red whenever they are outdoor... I need to to sell the trash can and buy the new one so their moodlet will go back to normal... this is suck :(

I don't know if anyone here has got the same problem since the latest update. Whenever I click on an in-game computer device/laptop for my sim to use, the time freezes. I can't do any other tasks for my sim. It's actually annoying.

I had that same issue! It went away but it was replaced with general time (in live mod) freezing instead of the PC. It sucks cause her mansion is so awesome.

The changes to bills have made the game significantly easier than before, especially if you play as an active career that's going to be using stuff in the science lab all day. Some of my households' bills have gone from ~10k a week to about 500. Methinks they need to redo this feature since bills are virtually nothing now.

Get together is the best way to group and control npc behavior. Just make tons and tons of diff groups for each diff lot type and their behavior actually works great utilizing this feature. Dont have this pack though, I knew better.

Sharing is Caring can just go away in my opinion. I was wondering why all my patio furniture kept going missing and I thought it was a bug (or I was crazy) until I realized that the action plan was Sharing is Caring and people walking along the path by my lot were taking my furniture. Also, I made it to the Patreon list at the end of the video (not that I had been looking).
